Are the tires new? Are they known for having a soft sidewall? I had some Toyo R1's on my GTI and the sidewall were really flexible and made the car feel unpredictable at speed.

should go to the tire shop and see if they are balanced right and all holding the same psi. i'd verify that first (since it should be free to check)

Maybe check alignment? How big of a difference in sizes between the old wheel & tires and new?

The new wheels, are they 18x9 front & rear? Are you running 295/35 on a 18x9 out back?
