From what I saw when I was looking, Everett is kinda sketchy...some decent places, some really places.
You really need to check out the areas in the daylight AND at night to get a good feel for it IMHO.
I heard Lake Stevens is nice, lil cheaper as well.

Might also wanna get several addresses/areas that you are interested in, then go by Everett PD/Snohomish County Sheriff's Office for Everett and ask them about those areas. The desk officer probably won't try to shoot you for interrupting his hectic day of answering phones and dealing with lunatics.
