Default Jacking up the motor

So I have my car completely torn the freak apart right now when the sun is shining ever so gloriously. So I have the tranny out and am swapping wiring harness as well, so I figure this will be a good time to make some upgrades.

LS6 intake
Shaner TB (VERY nice dude BTW)
Poly TA mount (mine was shredded now I know where the thump came from)
LCA's
Relocations brackets
Prothane Motor mount.

I just found out Edelbrocks LT's that I ordered are on backorder. I would cancel but I did already get the Y-pipe so I either wait or take the damn thing apart again.

My question while installing the motor mounts, do I have to be pretty careful jacking up the motor with a jack and flat piece of wood or if the weight is distributed, is it pretty stout??? The motor is extrememly easy to move around I was holding it up with one hand while disconnecting the ground wires on the engine harness from underneath the car.

Its just kind of tilted backword pretty bad right now so there will be alot of the weight on the wood the tranny won't be holding it up at all.

When I installed my headers I jacked it up by placing the jack with a piece of wood right where the bellhousing meets the block. I undid one motor mount, then jacked it up slowly until about 1" or so from the cowl, and then repeat.. I didn't replace the mounts though, but I think this would probably be how to do that as well.

Thats what I'm wondering though is how its going to be without the tranny in there, its tilting back pretty damn far, maybe I should put the tranny in first then jack it up but man there is a crap load of room in there right now, if I had a cherry picker this would be a easy job!

You have to jack the car up to put headers on?

I'm not sure if your motor mounts are the same as the LT1, but mine are like hinges, so when you jack up the back of the motor with one motor mount undone, it will sort of level itself and then swing upwards as you jack, using the other motor mount as a hinge.
