GT 500 times!!!
The Shelby GT 500 Terminates Terminators and all other Mustangs to come before it". per MM&FF mag. Best time in 100% stock trim 12.22 @ 117
When he arrived the car was hot and just made three consecutive passes when he made his first run. That run was a 12.74 @ 111.
1st 12.74 @ 111 top of third
2nd 2.14 & 12.24 @ 115.70 top of third
3rd 2.13 & 12.54 @ 115.32 top of third
4th 2.11 & 12.225 @ 117.8 shifted into 4th
5th 12.37 @ 116.52
WTF watch out (stock) guys

Yeah, that is impressive for a show-room test. But keep in mind, a stock C6 Z06 on this board (more of an even comparison to the GT 500) ran 11.2 @ 125 with just drag radials.

No matter how you slice it the car is heavy and costs too much. Estimated costs I've seen put it fairly close to the price of my CTS-V. Why on earth would I want a mustang that costs that much? At least I can carry 3 ADULT passengers comfortably.
I do like how it looks, though. And respect the whole heritage deal, too. But its just not what it should be... a lighter and faster car. The HP is great.. but the weight is stupid.

Everybody knows that the Grandma's at C&D can't drive. No surprise in those numbers with some of these things putting down 550+ bone stock. Too much weight though, way too much. Can ya imagine that drivetrain in a 3200 Lbs pre 99 Cobra?

Much better.
When the first numbers coming out saying 12.8-9. BS.
That's what a stock terminator would run on street tires at similar weight.
But I'd much rather people think it's that slow just to be blown away at the track.
Throw a little more air at it ... ooooh baby.

So why is this car such a pig? Did the gov make them add all sorts of frame reinforcements? Does it have the iron Cobra block? Is it an option-hog like the WS6 Trans Ams were (has everything on the list)? Is the Ford IRS lighter than a tube? You'd think they would have aimed for the GVW of the Vette....

Think about this. An 03/04 cobra with an M112 Eaton pullied up with all the bolt ons and tuner is good for close to 500 rwhp. The GT500 has an M122. So once they figure out how to pulley it up and the other bolt on stuff it should go pretty good for a 4k lbs pig.

Why even the comparison to the C6Z when it is still off the pass of a hot shoe in a C5Z (which I do not claim to be). I am guessing that was with the famous Evan Smith behind the wheel. The same Evan that took a '99 FRC (345hp) to 12.66sec and a Z28(310hp) (non SS) to a 12.8sec in GMHTP mag. Which is the same mag that did 11.9sec in a C5Z (405hp). Yep, I am impressed with Ford's 500hp car. And I don't want to hear about mods cause that depends on how much you can spend. Just stock works for me in comparisons.

I can't wait for some 4k lb competition.....and I gots me a blower too this time.
Truth be told, I like the GT500! It's about damn time Ford put a real engine with that blower into the Stang. No offense, but a small cube motor is at a disadvantage when it goes head-to-head with a bigger motor. Like the old saying goes, cubic inches, or cubic dollars. But it can't mean nuttin but good stuff for us motor-heads in the future. Can't wait for the others to get back into the game....
