Default Cam

I ordered my X-mas present yesterday. I decided to go with Crane cams 224/224 Quick lift camshaft. I also got new springs, pushrods,Blue printed oil pump from SLP, double timing chain SLP and gasket kit from Scoggin Dickie. Next month for my B-Day it'll be the roller rocker kit from Crane. Hopefully everything goes well with the install in March. I have a question about NOS and the ideal Lobe separation. I have heard some say that the 114 is best for NOS, is this true????? I have some thoughts about a 100 shot this summer. Can't wait for cam though

Hey Kasey,

Cool deal. You're gonna wish you had gone bigger on the cam though. A 114lsa will work well with N20, but a cam with a longer exhaust duration would be ideal, something around a 228/234 would give great drivability and scream on the bottle. That crane cam will work well too, just a bit smallish for my liking. My next cam is going to be,,,,,, largish lol......

Curious why you're upgrading the rockers though. I'd put that money somewhere else if it were me. There's lot's of people running much larger cams with stiffer springs on the stock rockers.

After I installed my Lingenfelter cam I did not even miss the 100 shot when the bottle was empty.

Really Mike, I heard some say that I should upgrade when I'm in there, Someday I may get a better head, so I don't know, how many people run stock rocker arms with bigger cams and springs????? I figured it was just part of the gig?

With a cam that small, I wouldn't even bother replacing the rockers unless you have a bazillian miles on the them. Save your money or put it toward another mod that will actually make a difference. My .02 anyway.....

This is what I've been up to lately....... https://ls1tech.com/forums/northwest-members/619448-porting-heads-so-begins.html

As far as rocker's you could go with the Harland Shard upgrade to your stock rockers. It's like 255 delieverd.

I too would go with a bigger cam. Personally I don't care what so-ever about drivability. I know some do (like yourself), but you can easily get a bigger "daily drivable" cam. Each to their own, and I hope it works well for you. But from my personal experinces I know 3 people who have switched from that exact cam to bigger cams.
