Here Chebby Chebby
Not trying to start ****, I have a LOT of respect for my friends in the Blue Oval gang that race with us! Just telling Ken if he wants to see what an LS motor with a blower runs like, look no farther, I'm here. And I'd leave the nitrous & turbo cars alone if I were you.
Quality is job one...
Whats your point?
How many rearends have you gone through?
So don't come in here talking big so you can back up Dad.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Hey JR. Welcome to the confused....
Mikie, I have a few pics you will love to see... when I get done watching the game I will post them up..
Amd I think JR's car will beat your truck, just not mine !!
Ken
Leave it to chebby to release a 170hp V8.
Have you forgotton your car's history dude? The V8 1982 Mustang "GT" had a flippin 2 bbl carb and barely made 157 hp and that was the 5.0!!! 1983-84 they increased it with a 4 bbl to something around 170-185 hp. 1985 they made the best carbed 5.0 (current emmission motors) and that had 210 hp. The first fuel injected 5.0 in the GT (and notchbacks) made 200 hp (1986) and upgraded it to 225 FINALLY in 87 and that lasted till when? 1995/1996? Though many say (and probably rightfully so) that it was under rated........so for 3+ years, 1979-1982/3, your beloved Ford made a V8 that made under 180 hp.....and for 1 year, under 160!!!
Now bear in mind that the engines I listed were the ONLY performance/V8 available for the stangs....well, ok, I forgot about the SVO Mustang (with the turbocharged 4 banger
) and the "turbo" GT's (also 4 bangers if memory serves) in the late 70's/early 80's......but still. Chevy/GM used that 170 TBI dog as the BASE motor for the RS/base coupes and the base motor in IROC's & Z-28's/Trans Am's.....there were usually 2+ upgraded (more powerful) engines available for our cars at that same time.

And if you wanna talk drivetrain? Yeah, the 4th Gen 10 bolt rear end is a POS but how about that "world class" T5 in the 5.0/4.6? How many decades was that in your fords? Let's see....in 1982 they still used the 4 speed manual, then they put that high quality T5 in in 1983......and they are STILL using it in the 07's now!! (Don't know if it is the same POS from the 80's but c'mon already....) I know the 03-04 Cobra's got a 6 speed but the GT carried right on with a 5 speed.

So don't come in here talking big so you can back up Dad.
Mine does. Fortunately I dont have to worry about it, my car didnt come with a weak rearend.
I will say there arent very many F bodies in here with all stock long blocks with any power adder running with me. Crazy what you can do with a 78 ford fairmont chassis and an old mark 7 motor.
Thanks for proving my point.
It was fairly civil until you started talking out your ***. We have a pretty good amount of Ford guys here who actually race withus and we help each other, we would like to keep it that way.
Talking your uneducated smack is not good unless these guys actually know you and you show up at the track.
Thanks for proving my point.

FYI, the other motors available for the 90-92 Z's and TA's had anywhere from 210-245 hp depending on what option ht edealership or owner wanted.
Anything beyond 92 was a 4th gen with the 275hp LT1 or the 305-325 hp LS1.
It took Ford until 2005 to give the standard GT motor 300 hp......up until 2004, the modular 4.6 barely had 260 hp.
