The Ford MAF uses a voltage output, while the GM units use frequency outputs (which aren't as affected by engine RFI/EMI). Small advantage for the GM units in stock form, but a real PITA to modify.

There is such a thing as a MAF voltage to frequency converter though. With it you could use the Ford MAF in a GM harness... though I don't know if the same tricks apply. There is a frequency limit in the LT1 PCM, and a translation value limited to 512 gps... there's nothing that the sensor can do about the limit (unless you find one that gives a *calibrated* percentage of the actual value that could scale into the PCM... but then you risk loosing some idle resolution, and I'm told this is one of the major advantages of the GM units over the Ford ones... low flow resolution).

The GM MAF does not work in the same way a Ford MAF does like Steve says.

This is a friendly thread and I would to point out I have no ill will for anyone here. I respect you ford guys. Having been one my self and conveting it may take a bit to get me back. I was racing a SBF before the 5.0 was king and switched to SBCs when the 5.0 was king

You have got to admit though from 93-02 Ford did not give you your best run base model V8 to Base model V8

No doubt about it. Unfortunately HP doesnt sell cars. If it did I think both the F body and mustang would be mighty interesting right about now.

How many N/A modular motors are as fast as an LS1?
I let you answer that one Ken.

The Cobra is fast, but so is a supercharged LSx.

They make a supercharged LS???

Stock for stock... one of the things that pisses me off is they always say "well, we are N/A, and he's got a blower" whaaaa whaaa whaaa..

it ******* came that way from the factory with forged internals and Manley rods.. and they KNEW folks were going to be modding them heavily so they accounted for that...SMART I think...

I just got done reading "Iron fist, Lead foot" great book about how the Terminator actually evolved, and how most of it was hand built and that ROUSH had a HUGE part of making the engine bullet proof...

Stock for stock no LS anything hangs with the TERM

Love ya mike...

Yep, I think Don's gotcha covered on that quote. The new Z06 - LS7 w / 500+ HP & TQ, titanium everything inside, dry sump, revs to 7k, runs low 11s stock, pulls 1g in the turns & STILL gets 25mpg! I can't think of any car ever made for under $250k like that.

LS7, LS2? LS7 makes more power and the LS2 makes right around that, both N/A, Where is your Ford now?

My point wasn't that we don't have a blower, I was saying look how much power a LSx can make with one.
You will never see a heads and cams mod motor come close to a LSx motor for power mod for mod.
I know yours came with one stock, that is the only way to get a Mod motor to make any real power. Ford got smart and figured out how to make small cubes make power.

I will just let you continue to dig your own hole...

Love ya.

LMFAO!!!

A BASE model GTO! Ken come now. Reality is slapping the **** out of you here

The 03-04 Cobra is a mighty car there is no dought. Doesn't it bother you JUST a hair they had to build it to hang with STOCK non-exotic GM cars?

You might want to hold on to your ***** it has been confirmed Gm WILL produce a blower car and it is going to make the be-loved "terminator" and even the Ford GT seem mellow by comarision.....

Just with the mods I have done to my 5.0, I have pulled on the couple LT1 camaro's that I have come across... Other than that I got nothing... Except for a video of my mustang raping the crap out of a 305 TBI which isnt much to brag about.

Leave it to chebby to release a 170hp V8.

Jr. I taught you better than that. No stock 302 is better than any Stock LT1 hell stock LT1s run with your run of the mill Stock SOHC mod motors, Refresh my Memory Jr. What does a stock AOD 5.0 run, a stock 4.6 auto run? What did my LT1 run with 123,000 miles on it?
Jr, jr, jr...I am disappointed.
