Fire Supression System Install
I'm only about 1/2 done, but I figured I'd post some pics since I've been talking about it. So far I have figured out the placement of the bottle & disch handle & installed them. Now I have to find the places for the nozzles & plumb the lines for them.
My plan is to have 2 in the engine bay & 1 by the gas tank. I'll post pics of that as I go (been taking my time so it ends ups looking good & functioning right). Thanks Boyce!

Thanks guys. I got the nozzle on the gas tank installed, and the line to the engine compartment run, but I ran out of tube so it isn't finished. But it's close!!! Time to take some pics, watch some f-ball & drink a Mikes or 6.

As promised, the update pics....I still need to tee the line for the engine compartment & place the 2 nozzles. If I can, I plan to remove the plastic coweling & run it there.

Looks great mark. Glad I was able to help you out on this one. As soon as I can get my load over to Dons place I will star installing mine. I thing I am going to place my bottle inbetween the rollbars in the rear. How difficult is it putting the dischardge fittings on the end of the lines?

Thanks again Boyce for setting me up with this system! I assume you're installing the big-dog kit? I need to get about 6' more tubing to finish the job. I have the tube cutter, flaring tool & bender. That makes the job pretty simple. It just takes time.
The hardest part is sliding the tube thru the hole, putting the coupler on & then flaring it. You usually only have about 3" of tube to work with. Let me know when you're going to do it & I'll try to come help. I will at least loan you the tools.
As for bottle placement, you are limited by the length of the cable (6' on my kit) & where you want to put the handle. Mine is a far away as I could put it.

Just my .02, I think you should grommet the tubing where it goes through the floorboard/tunnel. And anywhere else it's going through a metal hole. If it's aluminum tubing, and it looks like it is, it'll wear through over time from vibration and your agent will not go where you need it to if you actually have to use it as it's intended.
What agent are you using? CO2? Halon? FM200?

Yeah, that's a tight area to work in for sure. It would almost be easier to pull the engine. Luckily the areas you can get to with a drill from above are the places that don't have the windshield wiper mechanism to contend with. Would be a good place to run a purge line.
It's amazing how much crap is packed into these cars. Any serious mod you want to add challenges your imagination. God I miss my 57 Chevy....
