Newest Mod! No extra HP though...
Well, here is the newest mod and one of the reasons that prompted the sale of the GTO... Got to have priorities!
Its a 36x36 foot, 1296 square foot garage. The plan will be to eventually get a two post 9K lb. lift for the middle bay. The eve height is 12" so plenty of room for those big projects! There will be three 9' wide x 8' high doors and 4 4X3 Slider windows.

Getting started
We had the fun a few weeks ago of renting a backhoe/front end loader for a day. That was awesome! Moved a little dirt, took out part of a hill and started doing just general leveling that way they don't have to do too much and won't cost us any extra. This thing was fun! So big and powerful, yet soooo easy to operate. They'll let anybody drive these things too! I called to reserve it and he asked if we had ever operated anything like this before. I told him no and all he said was make sure the driver delivering it showed us how to, and if we had any questions to just ask, lol!

Very Cool!
One thing you might want to double check is that posts aren't going to be required to be going through your work space.
On my new house we used "attic trusses" which span the entire width and don't require any beams and I'm very thankful of that. Plus we have a 14x28 bonus room above the garage (32x28 attached garage ). I guess that will work for now until I build the detached garage.

Yup, its all clearspan, no posts at all. The trusses, are only located at the main posts at the front and back, 12 foot on center.

OK...first of all - VERY nice set-up congrats...
Secondly...I wasn't going to say anything because it is going to come accrossed as though I'm big time bragging no matter how I say it......but when your square footage registered I had to comment....so here goes....you need to double that size to catch up with the Jones's here (that would be be me)...My shop is exactly 2592 square feet. No lift (maybe someday) but I do have a 4' wide x 6' deep x 16' long pit, and a 10' high overhead jib crane.
Spent many a weekend wrenching on cars in miserable conditions though - so I will say I kinda paid my dues to get a nice shop..Advice to all you young guys (not that I'm that old..) Get yourself a good shop and save yourself alot of headaches !
