Honestly it was the biggest cluster %^** I have ever seen. And then the MC was in love with his porsche and thought it was the fastest car on earth. I love the idea, but the execution was horrendous and listening to ricers and euro car enthusiasts really killed my buzz. It honestly was a very poorly organized event. Best of luck.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience.

#1 you are going to get ricers on any multiforum event. It is about the kids. Ignore the stupid people. I have to do it everyday.

#2 Last year was an explosion. We did not expect that many cars. This year we are moaking provisions to change that. Ie police escort. I have been working for the last week with my lawyer trying to find a solution for an event of this size. Sad thing is that it takes money. There are a couple rx7 owners that said they are willing to toss 50 dollars in for an escort.

#3 if you did not like something please say it constructivley. I am open to suggestions.

That was constructive from me. Like I said I liked the idea and that's why we came but it was poorly organized, like you said maybe due to the fact you werent expecting that many cars? There was supposed to have been the police escort last year but we never saw it. After waiting 45 minutes on the side street and almost running out of gas we left.
1. A better location would be my first suggestion

2. Dont try and have a drive. Getting 300+ cars onto the freeway all at once isnt going to happen. It will just be another cluster *&^%

3. Pick a location like a mall parking lot.Yes you need to speak with the owners. An event of this maginitude with that many cars needs more than just a park an ride.

Collect the toys there (where ever you chooose to have it). Either have big truck to deliver them or have a rep of the organization your giving them to there to accept them and let them worry about delivery.

5. Police escort ? Not going to happen and not a good idea, that many cars is a menace and doesnt ever work out well.

6. MC. Dont pick a chump in love with his porsche or what ever euro car is flavor of the month. You need someone who is neutral and not going to think he's being funny even though his dozen friends think he's cool. Yes this is a sticking point with me. You attracting hundreds of people who want to donate to kids and be part of something cool and then a dickweed looks down his nose at your ride. Real nice!
An ******* with an expensive foreign car is not cool. Really. Who ever that idiot was last year we can all do without. Save your snobbery, my car would trash that porsche as well as most of the cars there. And then there are the heavy hitters in the American car division that would trash my car all to hell so dont be thinking because you have twinturbo VW your all that, because your really just lunch meat.

The event isnt about bragging or who's fastest it's supposed to be about disadvantaged kids. Honestly that guy last year was a douche.

Try and get with a radio jock/station, they know how to talk to a crowd without being a douche and a bunch of car enthusiasts donating toys to kids always get's good play.
Most people think car clubs and fast cars just run around and race and kill people. Motorcycle clubs turn their image this way as well

Maybe you should be using the Tacoma dome parking lot. You could also invite a food vendor to feed people instead of trying to drive somwhere.
You need to think bigger in terms of infrastruture. Have to many clusterfucks and you will loose people instead of gaining them.

Solve the Problem and just take your Donations to Toys R Us...More kids will benefit..

Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us will match the total number of toys collected during this campaign. This applies to ALL new, unwrapped toy donations. Businesses or schools doing their own toy drives are welcome to arrange for a bulk drop-off at their local Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us store. Please email TRUCF@toysrus.com for more information or to make arrangements.

The matching will not occur at the time of toy drop off, and toys will not be matched exact item for exact item (ie: if you donate a Barbie doll it might not be matched with another Barbie doll). Toys"R"Us, Inc. will match the overall number of toys with an equivalent number of toys, and will only do so after December 9 when all the toys have been collected and tallied.

Cash donations will not be matched, only toy donations.

All Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores nationwide will have specially marked bins located in their stores from October 28 through December 9 to collect toys. Toys for Tots will regularly pick up toys from these locations. We cannot, however, send Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us employees, or Marines, to pick up toys at another location.

Well, merging with another cause is fine but... it looks like a group of people want to do their own cause, called the "NW TOY RUN". Having heard about it for a number of years now I can assume the event ties in cars or a car show of some sort. It's unique and that's cool. Good for them and good luck. My family donates thousands to the United Way through out the year and 'sponsors' a family during Christmas, so I wont be attending. Thanks!

Looks like we will have st light closures in Kent and Lacey. We have been working really hard to make this event go smoothly. This will make the transition to and from the freeway a lot smoother.

We will have a st light closure in Kent(if there are no fatality accidents at the same time as our run). Lacey is not willing to help us out. I have spoken with 10 different people in with Lacey and no one was willing to shut a light off for 300+ cars. Next year we will be exploring a new location.
