Default Nissan GT-R spanks Porsche 911 Turbo and Corvette Z06

Saw that on the cover of the new Road & Track. Ran around a track and the Gt-R ran a 1:55 time which was 7 sec faster than the others... Better make the stock Z06 better!

That's good, I'll still take a ZO6.

7 seconds better than a Z06 on a 2 minute track? Sounds to me like someone didn't know how to drive a Z06! Seriously though, the GT-R is selling for 100k+(with dealer markup) and is putting 450-480hp at the wheels, with AWD that means it's around 600 at the fly. That price and power puts it in ZR1 territory.

I can't wait 'till C&D does their Lightning Lap for 2008. If we're lucky it'll have the GT-R as well as the ZR1, G8 GT, BMW 135, IS-F, new M3 and a few others that'll be fun to compare.

They're all nice cars, I'd rather just stay with the domestic brands.
I've had my dealings with imports, From a practical standpoint imports
are much more expensive and much more difficult to work on.
Just wait until you start breaking part$ on tho$e M3s and GTRs.

Hopefully those ZR1s wont be marked up to high.

Isn't that the test with a Euro spec or a preproduction car? I am not saying the car isn't badass but Nissan has made sure that the numbers are in their favor. Runs with race tires against cars with producton tires, race fuel, dyno runs in third gear etc. I don't know if Nissan was involved with all of these but most of the data I have seen includes these numbers and not real world repeatable results. I will wait to see the actual U.S. spec car and what it does before I get all excited. I think the car will be awesome but I am tired of seeing ringer cars and "tests" that ensure the Nissan looks like a beast. The HP to wieght doesn't add up to the numbers that are posted.

Best opinion I have seen to date regarding the GTR. A fast car for sure but there is so much crap floating around about what it is really capable of that IMO the jury is still out. Let's see ho they hold up to a Z on a real track with people that know how to drive a rear wheel car. I think the outcome will be either closer or different. GM going to Michelins on the ZR1 is a huge plus and sorely needed on the Z06. Wish it was an optional tire. The Goodyears are a crap tire especially for a car like the Z06.

The GTR may be faster on the road course, but the GTR is way heavier and did you catch how much slower it is in the 1/4? I'm willing to bet from a freeway race, or stoplight to stoplight the Z06 would still reign King! However, on a road corse......the GTR is quicker.

From what I've read and gathered, the GTR is in the same price range as the GTR.

Oh and BTW, I'd love to see that car run a raod coarse against the up coming ZR1! That would be funny!! similar HP as the GTR, but 600-700lbs lighter.

And they cheated, Team Nissan brought in their "ringer" driver. Ask Boyce, Jeffy or Bill how good that guy is...

Latest issue of C&D has the full test drive article. Even C&D posted 11.5@124. Launch control plus AWD = 3.3 second 0-60. They also said that with the launch control it is amazingly consistent, some of their runs being within .01 of each other. CCC guys look out.

From what I understand Steve Millen came out and said he didn't know how to drive the Z06 or how to get the most out of it. Throw Johnny O in the car and lets run the test again.

Yep, that would be the genius I was talking about.....downshifting into 3rd at 2 bills when a rear tire blows.
