The more I think about the finances of it all.........I'm gonna have to stick with a budget target of 8-10 grand.

I've seen some sweet looking cars for low teens, but that would put me in a bind at the current time.

I could either wait till years end so I'll have more money for a purchase or go for the 8 grand target now and build on what I buy.

But I don't think 8 grand for a nice car is too far fetched! Is it?

if you're going to sink a lot of money into it making it a race car, you might think of spending more to get the car you want to build (ie 408 ls1 with a high stall built tranny, cage, 12 bolt, etc.) Let someone else pay for the mods, and you get off cheaper in the long run.

This is what I did with my Jeep I had (about $15,000 in mods to it, I bought and sold it for $5500)

Hell no. A higher mileage Z06 sold recently for 15k. There are C5's out there for around 10k. I sold my 97 coupe for 17 with only 50k on the odometer, and that was a few years ago. it's a buyers market, so just keep looking, a killer deal is there somewhere. maybe get together this weekend and toss back quite a few, lol. Where did cindy go, Mexifornia? My Z06 may be going on the chopping block, and would be a good deal for soemone, only 16k miles and all the stuff to go back stock...

Hey Jon, thats great news! Glad to hear you're going back to your hobby, and hope to see you at Bremerton later this year. Good luck with your search, take your time and shop around. I'd stop by at Robert's for cold ones too, but I'm heading to Orlando this weekend for a few days of business. Maybe next time. I hope that Robert isn't serious about dumping the vette!

I think this is out of your range but stumbled across it searching for a scammer that popped up in another forum:

Well, either it's going to become a dedicated race car, or am going to get a used C6 Z06. the prices aren't to bad now for a low mileage C6 Z06. then i could do the stock times and slow mods things and see how far we can push the LS7, which I think could go much further than the ls6? Anyway, I am certainly not getting out of the game, just thinking out loud at this time.
