3rd Annual All-GM Oktoberfest @ Silver Springs, FL October 4th 2008
Well, we just finished the second annual show, and I've already got people asking about 2008's show, so why not throw out the date!
The Third Annual All-GM Oktoberfest at the beautiful Silver Springs park in Ocala, Florida will be Saturday, October 4th 2008. For those wanting to make a weekend out of it, Friday activities include a cruise from Ocala to Cedar Key Friday morning, a dyno day at NPD in the afternoon, plus NPD's 140-plus car collection will be open for viewing on Friday. Garlits Museum of Drag Racing is about 10 miles south off I-75 if you need even more car stuff before heading home on Sunday.
The 2nd annual show saw 420 cars brave the rainy Florida forecast we had all week, and the skies stayed clear on the day of the show until a brief shower hit halfway through awards at 4:30 p.m.
Just for some background, NPD has held a Mustang and Fords show in January at Silver Springs, a nature theme park in Ocala, Florida, for the past 13 years. We've always experienced great turnouts for this show (over 1,050 cars made an appearance in 2007 including 4 Ford GTs from over 1,600 pre-registered), plus the attraction of having other things to do besides check out the cars, such as glass-bottom boats to check out the natural springs, a kids petting zoo, and more. Check out http://www.silversprings.com for more on the park and all its attractions.
The first 1,000 cars to pre-register by a certain date (usually 1-2 weeks before the show date) will receive free entry into the park for car, driver and one passenger on Saturday. Any entry registering after that date, the day of show or beyond the 1,000-car threshold may purchase the show package for $18.00 per car, which still includes passes for driver and one passenger. PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to attend but not show a car, you'll be subject to the standard park entrance fee of $33.99/general, $24.99 for children ages 3-10.
Registration is available for all GM models early or late, as well as all GM-powered street rods and exotics.
The registration form is on our website as of June 4th Click on www.npdlink.com/modules.php?name=Silver_Springs and click the "3rd Annual All GM" banner for a pdf version of the registration form, print it out and mail it in when they are completed!
High Performance Pontiac, Super Chevy and Chevy High Performance will in attendance at this event for coverage in the magazines.
I have a few photos from our Ford & Mustang Show 2006 are here (if you want to see how we pack the place and park layout): http://community.webshots.com/album/553024330VCxAiI
Shoot me an e-mail at dputnam@npdlink.com if you have any questions. I'll be posting more details as they become available.
