Default Painting zr1 rims suggestion?

I'm not sure where this goes either wheels, or paint & body, but I'm looking into painting my chrome zr1 rims Gunmetal, if I take it to a Bodyshop & have them paint my rims gunmetal with the chrome lip, is there anything I need to know if the paint going chip if I wash my rims, or if it's a bad idea to paint over chrome, or has anybody done this?

you can paint over chrome but it will be easier to chip and flake but it can be done with good results

I hardly watch TV. I have seen car & trucks that are with 22s or 24s or 20s with chrome rims painted thats where I got the idea of gettin the color gunmetal on my rims.

Yes powder coating comes in different colors and bright exotic colors aswell. It may be expensive to have them done, so in turn alot of people get them spray painted. Having them powder coated makes the results last longer and newer everyday, paint may chip.

with powder coating, the paint is like baked on, so it has a stronger/ more durable finish. i checked on getting my
rims powdercoated- called 3 shops, one charged like $125 a rim, one said $100 each, and one was like $75 a rim.
So i'm not sure of a typical price range, since i got such a large range.

as far as body shops doing it, some probably will, some wont. the places i contacted were dedicated powder coating
shops. just google powder coating in your area, thats how i found them here.

i was originally planning to send the rims to silverghost, a member here on the site. heres prices were good, but
shipping added too much so i just looked locally.

but, if prepped and painted right, your results should last just fine. if you're feeling up to it, you can rattlecan
it yourself with the wheel specific paints. i've seen really good results from others who have done their own.
