I've seen it done on the net, and looks awesome, but it take ALOT of work to get it to shine like auto paint. White is about the only color i can see you matching decently. I say go for it. What do you have to lose but your time?
But you have never seen one in person you can get any car to look good in a picture. Buy a cheaper hvlp gun and try to paint it your self good learning exp.

Its not just rolling the paint on, and calling it good. Its nowhere near the same process as painting a wall in a house, other than the actual rolling of the paint. It require alot of finishing work from sanding, to polishing.

I think if you did it this way, and then cleared over it, and buffed it out, you'd probably get pretty close. You wont have **** for money invested, and if it doesnt work out, take it somewhere and have it painted.

Really to me, it comes down to how much time are you willing to spend on this, cause money is obviously almost negligble. You'll have like $20 into it i'll bet.

Everyone on here thinks LS1 f-bodies are a gift from god that will be worth $1 million some day. Fact is, unless its an SS, or a car with under 10,000 miles it isnt worth **** so who cares anyway.

Try it. I've wanted to see this done on one of these cars for awhile. If it doesn't work out, your out a little money and time, but you take from that a learning experiance. I've seen some in work painters that really jacked up a factory paint job doing repairs, so I'd be leary of letting an out of work painter touch my car for fear of having to do it all over again anyways. Bottom line, if you think you have the time and skills to do this give it a shot. The worse that can happen is you have to sand it all off and start over.

I think you'd be better off with a cheap spray gun or even automotive rattle can. Either way... you would certainly have less wet sanding and buffing than with the roll-in rustoleum way.

UPDATE:

well i decided to try it out. this is still work in progress. im about 4 coats into it and its turning out all right. if you get close you can see a little bit of orange peel where i laid it a bit too thin. im sanding between coats to get rid of the orange peel and will probably finish with about 6 coats. then wetsand and buff it. the pics dont do it justice at all.

To all the naysayers, i think the results are pretty good. Looks like it needs a little work, but you cant' beat the price.

This sounds retarded. You must really hate your car if you are seriously thinking about rolling on paint. You would have better luck with a wagner power painter...... Someone please lock this thread so nobody actually considers trying this on their car
