that would be alot of work filling, primering, sanding then basing, man that would suck. lol

^Yeah, and I'd rather not prime and seal, so I'll just go with the initial plan. Besides, the only pics I could find of the same type of truck with the body lines filled was also done in flat black (primer) and it just looked so boring without it.

When you buy the kit it comes with the required reducer & hardener. But you have to buy the "kit" to get that package not just the paint itself.

^Yeah, thats the plan. Pretty cool how they do kits like that. Takes the confusion out of mixing (I get confused sometimes lol). Although, after some more consideration, I may just get 3 kits just in case I don't have enough. Nothing worse than running out of paint before you're done.

I am seriously thinking about 3 kits of the SEM Hot Rod Black for my Formula. I love the look of that paint. Would 3 kits be enough for 3 coats of paint?? Each kit looks like it makes 1/2 gallon of sprayable paint.

^Seems like it would be enough. You plan on doing the door jams/underhood and everything as well?

I will do the door jams, what I can get to with the doors still on. I don't have enough room to remove the doors to get to the front area. I will leave the underside of the hood bare gel coat fiberglass. Not gonna try and do the engine bay either.

I am thinking fo buying one kit for now and one of those Harbor Freight guns and practicing on my old hood a few times.

okay great, that just made me sure about getting it.

I had originally planned on doing this, especially once you posted up that video of yours when you did it. but then switched to wanting a regular paint job, and i know the exact color i want, but since i know i'm gonna be low on funds with all the other stuff i want to do, i won't be able to afford the paint materials, so i'm back to the hod rod black. But it'll only be temporary...

at least thats what i'm telling myself now

Looks good man.

Crystal River- I visited my dad there for a while. Went fishing alot too. Caught some HUGE saltwater trout just past the Nuclear Power Plant. About 15 miles out, you get into some big *** grouper lol. I miss Florida for its fishing.

Another cheap flat black is John Deere Blitz Black. It's very durable, it's made for farm equipment, lol. I've known a couple of rat rod guys that have used it with good results. It's made for JD by Valspar & is usually around $30 a gallon.
