Need dent fixed/Have insurance/No cash for deductable?
Was hit and run a while back. I don't have cash for deductable due to going back to school. I have state farm. They gave me lists of places they recomend! Been told by others that i can take to shop of my choice. Alos told shops can roll deductable into repair costs.Wanted to know if this actually can be done legal.

yes it can be done legaly. most of the time we use aftermarket parts over gm parts and other things to cut the cost if needed but you wont be getting as nice of a job. it really depends on the shop and what all needs fixed, if its too small its hard to really help. also depends if the shop is a direct repair or a independent, drp kinda have there hands tied

Yes, you can take your car anywhere you want. Any shop you go to you can demand that they use factory parts to repair your vehicle if the damage requires panel replacement. Most of the time a shop will work with you. Man your in TX anywhere you go there will be someone waiting to help. Yall are the nicest ppl. I was thinking of moving to Midland/Odessa..lol

Buy the replacement parts online, look for shipping included deals, they will beat any aftermarket and OE part by substantial amounts. And take it to a good Maaco in your area, the one by me sponsers my car and they do an awesome job, also 5 year warranty. full top of line paint job 900, so you should be able to get the job done with 0 out of pocket costs, you may even make some.

The materials/paint/clear cost more than that, direct from the dealer myself. Dont go to maaco. Its not worth the risk.

There is a reason everyone uses the high dollar stuff. If the paints maaco used were truely as good as DuPont, PPG, ect., wouldn't everyone use it? I will not say that all GM parts need to be used... You get a piece of mind that your parts will fit. But please, please, don't use maaco.

I work for a State Farm DRP shop, Unless you take a cash settlement we will not try to cover the deductible by using after market yang chow junk. If the insurance company is paying us directly we have to use OEM or used parts or we get kicked off the program. Plus 99% of that after market stuff never fits like it should. Also it does not give any more time to hang a keystone fender over a OEM fender, yet I spend five times longer trying to make it fit right. So when a shop uses after market parts trying to save a customer money or make more money off parts, the guys in the back on commission are taking it in the shorts.
Also Ive yet to see any maaco paint job that impressed me. I would just try and **** out the money for the deductible and have a shop use OEM parts, quality materials, etc...and they will more than likely do a quality repair.

And who ever thinks they can get a good paint job for 900 dollars is mildly retarded.

I installed a aftermarket fender on an old Bonneville several years ago... if fit fairly well... only had to drill a hole where it mounted by the door. Panel didn't even have to hole in it.

I will agree that Maaco, while they do have their place, is not the best quality. As far as OEM. The majority of parts are OEM compliant and I have yet to see any shop go directly through lets say Chevrolet, unless its a dealer direct part and or customer requested. For example if you have a WS6 hood. I will almost guarentee that replacement hood is goind to be after market. Why? Becasue a factory hood is between 1400 and 2200 dollars depending on your area. An aftermarket is going to be between 300 and 700, but will be OEM compliant.
I also think saying a shop using Dealer direct parts will do a better job than a shop using aftermarket parts is just ignorant. Builders use aftermarket all the time. If you have the skill its all the same. Even the dealer direct OEM parts need to have all the same steps taken to make sure it is straight and preped properly. A good shop will do the same steps whether it is dealer OEM or aftermarket OEM.
Lets not try and bash shops becasue you think you poo roses now..

Good advice. What do I do to get a cash settlement? Got hit and run and have dent in rear panel into edge of door. The deductable is only 500 hundred bucks but money is tight right now. Have see repairs of same damage on other members rides. Not sure where they had it done but the repairs looked perfect??

900 is the base price for their oem paint service, I paid more than that as I had the best clear on the market put on as well for extra, Every place is different, but to say every maaco is no good as they are just a name, and are privately run is not right. I too was skeptical going there, but the owner and painter have muscle cars as well, and the painter has a side shop where he does custom rides for people on the side. But after it was painted it looked amazing. And have had lots of comments on it. Oh and if you want ppg paint you can, granted it will be extra at least at the one I went too.

We call it saving your deductible. With a $500 ded. there has to be a certain amount of damage done and room to repair some things instead of replace them. It's done all the time. Shops on DRP programs won't work as much with you because like they said above, their hands are tied. Find a reputable independantly owned shop and see what they can do for you but I will tell you if the damage is limited to just a door or even the quarter then there's not gonna be much room to save a ded. that high. Good luck and it's unfortunate!!!!
