Wait why would you pay anything? If someone hit you, they should pay....

Have the car appraised after the fix and sue the guy for the difference.
There is a clause in most for diminished value.$10k for that car is cheap

I know where your coming from, but what I am saying is that if I want completely NEW parts then I have to pay the difference from the used. For insurance claims here in Canada the standard is to use used parts unless A) they can't find the used part in question or B) The used part is of unacceptable quality.

Thats why I said that when the used parts come in, I will be going to inspect them before they go on the car and I will be making a judgment call on whether I want completely NEW parts.

I might consider that, but on the other hand its a lot of hassle, getting lawyers etc. I`m just happy that the car is getting repaired with no cost to me, yes I know things usually are never the same as before, but it could be much worse. I`m sure the car will turn out fine.

find a shop that can show you their work and will let you pop in and check on things.
Check in and or get updates daily.

Hey guys,

So I have been going to the shop several times over the last couple weeks to check up on the progress, haha they`re probably getting sick of seeing me lol. I seen the used 1/4, rocker, and door and they are in excellent shape. I got to see the car with the quarter on and they have fabricated the rocker into the body, I was very impressed with the work. Unfortunately it did need a bit of a tug on the frame tugger, but it looks like the rocker took the majority of the damage, as you can see in the pictures on the first page. The guys at the shop figure she will be back on the road in 7-14 days! I want it back ASAP cause here in Canada, she goes to sleep in the 2nd or 3rd week of October so I would like to enjoy it before I have to put it away. I wanted to take some pictures of the repair progress, but the guys at the shop were not to crazy about me taking pictures so that kinda sucked, but what can you do. I will post some pictures when she is all repaired!

Roughly the same as I believe the exchange rate now is around .94 CAD for every USD. I was just in Calgary last week.

Oh OK I see. To me, I don't care if they are used or new parts in a repair for body panels, as long as they are in good shape a used is just as good as new.

It's about 9200 US.. but the estimate is going to be closer to 11200 US, I believe. I must say that my insurance company has been excellent to deal with.. I read a lot of other posts of guys cars getting totaled.. I'm a lucky fella.

I forgot to comment on this before, but the shop has a vinyl guy they go to and I guess the guy traced the drivers side decal and made 2 replacements. I also ordered a set online for comparison and whichever one looks better is the one I'm putting on.

Thanks man.. it definitely was nice, just hope it turns out awesome when I get it back. As stated in a previous post, I went to see it last week and the fitment/fabrication they have done looks great. By no means am I body repair guy, but I was impressed. It's been at the shop for like 35 days. It's not the parts that are making this repair so much, but rather the hard labour.. if it looks like it did before I'm going to buy a 24 for the god that fixed her up haha

Good news, I went to the shop today and they said I should have the car back this Friday! The car looks great, freshly painted. The original paint was already in pretty good shape but the new paint still looked wet haha (but it wasn't). My only concern is how the fresh paint is going to look beside good paint? That's my only concern at this point. When I got to the shop, the guy that has been working on my car was doing some finishing touches.. I shook his hand and made sure he knew how much his work is appreciated. I asked again if I could take some pics for u guys haha and they we're Kool with it this time, please exuse crappy camera phone. Im not home atm, but I will send u the pics in the morning
