Default engine bays....

So im curious to see pics and processes of how people have gone about cleaning and painting their engine bays.

my motor/trans are out of the car right now for a build. and im looking to possibly clean it up and repaint it (at the very least clean it). i dont know if i want to just repaint it/clear it or if i want to do something different like flat black or a plastidip, por 15 any type of protectant. so id like to see what some of you have done.

thanks

i actually kept up with that thread. amazing work!

i wont be going that crazy. as i dont want to remove as much from my engine bay to do the work (also not much time/money right now). particularly dont want to remove my dash to pull the engine harness. or remove the fuse box etc. just want to try to work around it for now. main reason i want to do something under there is scratches etc on the fender wells. they are showing their damage from turning wrenches and several engine removal/installs.

im going to purple power and wash everything out here shortly to clean it. and re-loom the engine harness. its showing some wear and tear as well.

The more you can get out of your way, the better off you'll be, remember alot of it is time, no extra monty to remove/reinstall parts. Degrease as best as you can then sand all the surfaces. wipe with surface prep a few times. I layed down an epoxy primer just to seal the surface as best as I could before spraying the color. here's another out-of-control engine bay

OP, there's been quite a few guys that have great success with rattle cans and the appropriate prep work. You might find most of them in the Appearance section.

Btw, thanks for following....someday it'll come to an end

I want to see the good rattle can jobs and how you prep, prime, paint them and what products you used?

God,
I hate to post mine after all the bling, but here's a half assed rattle can job. After scarfing up the engine bay from motor swaps, I just sprayed the crap out of everything after a good wash. Going for a stockish look.

I took a different approach and coated mine with a black textured truck bed liner.

Here's a tip for u guys that don't won't to remove your wireing ect. Use aluminum foil n wrap it around the wires,it mask the wire good n use tape n plastic/paper only where u need it saves a ton of time n easy to remove after your done.
