Default Black Primer or Satin Black ?

Eventually I want to repaint my car... any thoughts on what I should do? Should I keep it simple, cheap, and still good looking and go with black primer? Or should go all out with a semi-gloss satin black, which is essentially primer with a shine with a hefty price tag? The satin black will run me a lot more money, just don't know if I want to pay that much and then have to constantly worry about my paint job since it cost me so much. Thoughts? I'm leaning towards primer...

I just had a decent amount of my car repainted, worth it. The black primer looks good, but the semi-gloss is better IMO.

Hmm, maybe I'll go with the primer as a temporary paint job until I have the money for a semi-gloss satin black.

Fyi simigloss and satin are not the same. Satin shouldn't be all that much cost wise also

Oh... I just referred to it as semi-gloss because by meaning, it really is semi-gloss isn't it? Satin *looks like flat black but with a tiny bit of shine, hence semi-gloss... thanks though. How much do you think it would cost to paint a
4th gen satin black + labor, exterior only?

Semi gloss is about half gloss. Satin is about one quarter gloss. Flat is no gloss.

I have black primer on my formula. I don't worry about chips and it looks ok.

Gotcha... Satin is what I'm looking for then.

Actually I've heard that satin can be very expensive because it is super difficult to spray on evenly...I think I heard that on Chip Foose's show...I don't remember what it's called, and it may not have even been that show.

Satin is gorgeous, btw!

That's what I was worried about, satin being expensive... If it wasn't so expensive you'd think you see it on more cars. I need to know how much it'll cost before I make my decision.

Heres a pic of mine in, yes, John Deere Blitz Black. I sprayed it outside in one weekend, the paint, primer and supplies together were less than $350. This summer will make 2 years, the paint still looks just as good, besides the spot on the front bumper where someone hit and ran me.

Wow that thing looks awesome! Are you gonna keep the amber turn signals or get clear ones?

I kept the amber ones. I will smoke them when I re-paint the car back to white in the next few years. I also have chrome ZR1s on it now.

Idk if I'm gonna keep them amber if I go flat black or satin black, I love the look of F Body's with the amber lights on during the day, but then again it throws off the black. You didn't like the TT2's?

I loved the tt2s, but one of them was bent, and I traded straight up for the zr1s in good shape.
