I already love looking at the car. The paint shop is busy so it will be another 8 days before he considers taking in his shop. I was so happy to take the round lights out. Then the round bumper cover came off also and I never want to look at it again. I did the sail panel swap also so it took awhile to get it finished. Thanks to you and Spartan it went a little smoother. I have not welded the new bump stops in and the hood has no problems. Can I keep these out for good ? I need the room in the corner for fuse boxes and the lt1 intake setup.

I would ask your bodyshop guy about those bump stop brackets. Between all the snow NJ has gotten and the police academy, i have not had the chance to work on my car. Maybe someone on tech here could answer that question for you, anyways keep us all posted i cant wait to see yours all painted...thats one hot color you have there.

Anyone know if the radiator can lowered a 1/2"? When i close the hood the radiator cap is sitting a 1/2" to high. Also is the metal radiator shroud thinner than the stock lt1 shroud? That too is getting in the way.

I put the lt1cover on. I took a sander wheel attached to a Makita sander polisher. I trimmed the rubber on the lt1 elbow to make it smooth. I trimmed the top two corners and the center edge of the upper plastic radiator cover, I trimmed the inner part of the shroud, between the radiator and throttle body. Any where I saw their was more space needed. It seems to be great now. I'm able to close the hood with one try. I also thought the trans filler neck was too high so I chopped that 3/4 of an inch. I put spit on the higher areas then closed the hood then opened the hood to see where the hood was touching. The trans filler neck left scratches on the underside of the hood.

Thanks for the advise man.....what i dont understand is why these issues are popping up? To my understanding both lt1 and ls1 cars mirror one another as far as the front frame rail and radiator height.

They are. The only difference is the wiper mounts.

Car is looking much better John. As far as leaving those bump stop brackets off, you might be ok, but they do help to support the hood at the far corners and prevent it from bouncing during driving. There are still the 2 in front near the latch though. Just make sure you adjust them so the hood closes tight.

BigZ, which metal cover are you using? I'm using a stock LT1 radiator cover and have no issues. The metal radiator support is nearly identical, except that the small hump in the middle on LT1 cars is now flat on LS1 cars. Everything else is the same.

I'm also waiting on paint, working overseas keeps me from getting it painted already. But I went from this:

Picture of areas that were grinded for more space. The three areas that are raised have been ground down. The elbow was ground down. The underside of the plastic between maf and filter was ground down a little.

I got the car back together, this hood is on its way out. I just put up a post about a ss hood I just found. If it's a genuine slp ss hood I'm most likely getting it. The fenders need to be resprayed and I have to get the newly powder coated front wheels back on. The fenders still have room to get moved up, and I still have room to lower the hood latch, which will help with correcting these lines but this hood is on its way out

Looks good. You are only black mirrors and door handles away from it looking like my Sebring Silver 97 SS. Your current hood actually looks like the fit is not that bad, but if you can get a genuine one for a good price I would. When I got my car the prior owner had sold the hood and it took me over two years to find one.

I believe I found a hood for this car but got some more work on the car. All I have left to do is tighten up the bolts from the fenders to the front bumper cover and bolt in the fenders to the under brackets under the doors....just waiting on some lift time. Here the car as of today.

The fenders are a different color silver. The car is going to the body shop to get the fenders resprayed to match the car. The problem is 12 year old paint next to brand new paint and the fact that the fenders we sprayed away from the car. Will be fixed in the very near future.
