Default Car Accident - Advice???

Just got rear-ended something fierce. Know I'm about to be lowballed by a claims adjuster. May be declared totalled because it is so old.
My car: 99 T/A, WS6 hood, original paint is excellent and shiny. Not a scratch, stain, rip, or tear in the interior. T-tops. 70,000 original miles. Runs perfect. Everything works perfect. Well...worked perfect...

Anyone have any advice? Or what value I should fight for? Can't find any real comps in my area...

Get a ball gag or bite down on a stick because you're probably about to get reamed pretty good. Hopefully it goes better for you, but these cars are just getting older and older and their value keeps dropping.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I looked it up on KBB and private party was $9300, and dealer msrp was $11500. I don't expect to get over $10K, but I know for certain it would take at least $8K to replace.

I'll get some pics tomorrow when it's light out. The real damage is that it "kinked" the main square beam (don't know the exact name) that runs along the passenger rear side. The one that the wheel well and fenders and everythng are attached to.

Unfortunately its pretty common for any significant rear impact to kink the rails on a 4th gen f-body, it probably buckled the quarter panel(s) as well. Depending on how bad it may still be repairable, probably not by your insurance company though

The one is the truck that hit me. The other is the buckled quarter panel (another buckle over the rear tire). The other pic is in my wheel well where the actual metal ripped down the seam. It looks like my doors and hatch made it out alive somehow. At least it looks that way. Also slammed me into the car in front of me, which scratched up my paint and ripped the underside of the front bumper. All in all, I'm SO impressed with how well the car held up!! Likely totalled the truck and the car in front of me!

at that price, the insurance will definitely consider it totaled.

Yeah I know. KBB gave me an estimate of $9200-$10k, with MSRP at $10.8k. Geico totals at above 80% of the car's value. So it's gonna be real close. They are going to have a tough time finding comparable cars in that shape with 75K miles though.

If I was you, I would look for a roller body and swap everything over to it, if you swap stuff yourself it will be cheaper then trying to straighten all that back out. I was gonna link one that was literally striped down to carpet the guy was selling for 200 bucks (no axle or suspension parts) but I guess its gone now, but you should be able to find a roller under a grand with no motor or trans (even if you have to get a v6 roller).

Passenger side frame rail pics (side I was hit on), and area in that gap between the hatch and quarter panel where the panel ripped.

Stupid moron didn't even touch the brakes. Saw his headlights coming in my rear view mirror and couldn't do a darn thing but brace and wait...

if they total it, get your 10k, buy it back for 2500, fix it for the 7000 and take the other 500 and go on a weekend vacation with plenty of sunshine and iced tea.
