2001somws.6 keep me in mind cuz I am in Tampa. I noticed last week that my 2002 is getting teh bubbles. There are only a few, and they are small, but I know what I am in for. I've compiled a bunch of info and created a folder to take with me when I finally get to the dealership. I want to be armed to the teeth with facts when I go visit them.
I thought for sure I was safe cuz my car has NEVER been garaged and lives in the Fla sun all the time. Now here it is almost 5 yrs later, and it's starting.........

Well i just got off the phone with GM and boy i need some lube on how bad there ramming me in the ***.

They said they wont fix their defect because im the second owner and they dont know how the car was kept up.

I ask them about the 6 year corrosion warrenty and they said its for rust. And i also asked about the "good will" and they say its up to the dealership. At this point i feel there is discrimation being played here. I say the sun is melting the glue under the sheet metal causing the paint to bubble.

And get this ****. They say well the sun can do that. I say My parents have a 2000 toyota sitting in the sun without bubbles, a co-worker's 05 GT sitting in the parking lot all day without bubbles, my sister's 2 honda accords sitting in the sun without bubbles in the paint or my other sister's benz in the sun without bubbles. Its GM's glue used to keep the roof on. And you're telling me you're not going to fix your defect on the car you built with your materials.

Its time to mention names and numbers to the BBB and the local newspapers automotive dept and let everyone know that GM uses defected parts and dont hold up to their mess up and DISCRIMINATE to get out of what they messed up on.

I also got some feed back from high performance pontiac and this is what he wrote me.

GM is certainly willing to listen to customers, your brother being one of them, under what they call “GM good will”. The first step your brother needs is to know or already have a relationship with a local Pontiac service tech or service manager at a dealership. They have incredible flexibility in giving good will if they like a customer. I suggest he calls, if he already knows one, a service manager and let the service manager know the service bulletin, the condition of his paint, and that he would like for GM to cover this under their “good will” program. I can even suggest Joe Brown at Dick Norris Pontiac in Clearwater, FL. I personally feel that this is a better approach then going to a national rep for recourse as I have found, they don’t care. I pray this helps your brother’s plan. Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks for the advice. BTW, I own the car, I never mentioned a brother....

I have a great relationship with James-Rivard Pontiac, and I will use the "Good Will" approach. I just want to be able to dazzle them with my knowledge of the situation, so they don't think I'm just some schlub.

Unfortunatley, the weather has been cool, and I haven't seen the bubbles all week. With my luck, it will stay cool until I hit 100,000 miles, then warm up, and my roof will explode like pimples.......

2002 m6 35th anniv. hardtop. had problem, 2nd owner, purchased from dealer i went back to. 35,500 on the clock.took 3 weeks of fighting and getting in peoples faces. gm was very nice and respectable about it, as i was honest. dealership was not so enthusiastic. i was treated unfair. the bodyshop manager had a B/S tech come check out my roof. he agreed before i told him my story and was very understanding, he then told my b/s manager what is going on. not under warranty anymore but covered by gm as a latent defect, under GM good will. new roof panel is on order. could be months to receive it. but dont give up you'll get it, even if a few sware words and a lawyer threat come out in the process. also, if your point of veiw isnt respected at the dealer, call your gm corporate office and explain how your being treated, i did and he told the body shop manager what was up. need anything let me know ill be willing to help you out, 8 hours of research got me where i am.

Whats the number for the GM corporate office? I'm heading out to a couple of dealerships today to see what any of them can do. About 5 months ago I tried at the one that I knew best by where my parents live, and they said they couldn't do anything.

866-790-5700 ...

Didn't do me any good though .. because a GM dealer had already done the repair (the original owner had it done in March of '04). Well, they must have done it right by GM's book because it's bubbling like it was brand new!!

My car was in a wreck and I walked over to the service department 2 weeks ago and told them my car is already here, and handed them the service bulletin & told them I want it fixed. They said they'd call the regional guy and ask since my car is 5 years old. He said nope. Anyone know of a place that will help me out in Texas?

dont know about tex, since im in pa. the number i called gm at 1-800-222-1020 made a claim then got transferred to another guy at gm his number was 1-866-790-5600 w/ some multiple digit extension. im not sure if it take you to the samle place as the 5700 # or not? but then after i talked to the dealer and arose hell they ran the show from a higher level to help me. only part that sucks is i gotta wait a long time for parts to come in since no one stocks a roof panel, plus dont take no for an answer my car is 5 years old as well they told me no about 10 times and i jsut kept going further with it. it really was not the easiest thing to accomplish getting through to them either . they also dont like hearing about the BBB and getting an automotive lawyer that fights similar types of cases, really gets them thinking

I have bubbles running across the whole front and back of the roof panel (where the glue is), and some on both sides. Looks like my car is diseased, but my cars color hides it well.

yeah along the windshield slightly, the swivel glue line in the center, pretty bad above the drivers window, and the sail panels along the rear hatch, behind the side windows, and along the bottom(near top of front of rear fenders). about an inch thick all along the edges

I have been getting the run around for over a year, Maroone Chevy in S-Florida told me they have repaired plenty but not if your out of warranty, 3yr/36,000, would have to pay out of pocket, not happening. My black 01 SS has always been garage kept and only has 21,000 miles, bubbles getting bad starting to ooze epoxy. GM customer service was real nice even sent a letter responding to my E-mail, but still refused, gonna try this other number above, will keep ya posted.
