Bubbling Sail Panel Issue for Dummies

i heard about this as well, but the version i heard is that some of those roofs are actually flying off at speed like an unlatched ttop.
Here is the abridged version to guide you:
BBB will not help you
General Manager will not help you (although worth a try)
In the long run, I managed to get GM to pay for 35% of the replacement under their "goodwill" b.s.
Call GM and get a hold of Customer Service Specialist: Shannon Belanger. Tell her your problem. If she says that she has never heard about it, ask her about Service Request 71-507227321. That was my request number and she knows about the issue.
If you have a higher mileage and or older vehicle she will probably try to use that against you. However, people with similar mileage and year (or newer), should have a firm stance.
If I can help any one with their problem send me a PM (I will not be following this thread).

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I guess what it comes down is who gives up first!
It all started with my dealership/area Pontiac rep (who's a real *****) and didn't even ask to look at the car. All done w/a telephone call - DENIED
Seems GM is a little bit more leanient on this issue as opposed to Pontiac.
Good luck everyone, but time will eventually catch up to you with this problem. Took 5 years for mine to develop.
If you check my Fquick webpage, you'll see why I am displeased and very annoyed.

thats a different number than the rest of us have. post it up!
Talk to you guys in about 4 or 5 hrs.
I seriously doubt that you would get that kind of treatment from either Mercedes or BMW - and the cars are at least 2X the cost.
I'm certainly no proponent of GM service - but come on, really. If your car roof bubbles after 6 years SUCK IT UP and pay to have it fixed yourself.
You can't expect them to pay for your roof when they have so many hundreds of thousands of retired workers that need FULL benefits till they die...
This entire process of contacting 14 different agencies/people, God only knows how much wasted time, trying to get a cosmetic issue fixed on a 6 year old car - only to find out in the end that most of the time you will be told to go pound salt - is utterly redonculous.
Does anyone remember back in the early 90's when GM & Ford zinc coated their sheet metal panels, but decided they could save $$ by not primering - so they just finish painted over the zinc?
The paint on my Olds peeled off in large sheets one day while I was hosing off the car! I sure as hell didn't expect GM to repaint my car for free after 7 years and 90k miles & didn't waste my time trying to get them to do it.
Since it was daily driver - took it to MAACO for the $275 El Presidente paint special and ran it that way till it died.
A TSB is simply a document put out internally by the mfg. to state that they have found a certain problem that has occurred on a more than normal basis. In this case, it is not a safety issue so they ae not bound to repair for free forever.
A TSB of this nature is not a decleration of a Lifetime Warranty on your car. If the problem had occurred on your car within a relatively realistic time frame from the release of the TSB - then they would have fixed it - and rightly so...

I work for a beer company. When you call to complain about a bad case of beer am i going to tell you too bad, we pay too much for our retirement plans... I bet you would buy any more beer from us.
I'm betting you dont have roof bubbles and have to look at the problem every day, seeing your roof falling off your car after a hot sunny day in the parking lot at work.
