Well i just got off the phone with GM and boy i need some lube on how bad there ramming me in the ***.

They said they wont fix their defect because im the second owner and they dont know how the car was kept up.

I ask them about the 6 year corrosion warrenty and they said its for rust. And i also asked about the "good will" and they say its up to the dealership. At this point i feel there is discrimation being played here. I say the sun is melting the glue under the sheet metal causing the paint to bubble.

And get this ****. They say well the sun can do that. I say My parents have a 2000 toyota sitting in the sun without bubbles, a co-worker's 05 GT sitting in the parking lot all day without bubbles, my sister's 2 honda accords sitting in the sun without bubbles in the paint or my other sister's benz in the sun without bubbles. Its GM's glue used to keep the roof on. And you're telling me you're not going to fix your defect on the car you built with your materials.

Its time to mention names and numbers to the BBB and the local newspapers automotive dept and let everyone know that GM uses defected parts and dont hold up to their mess up and DISCRIMINATE to get out of what they messed up on.

I think we could also get results from GMHTP mag, I know one of the editors have a LS1 TA. I think if he's got bubbles also he might try to use his means to help us.

They were gonna warranty mine even after I told them I had it repainted and it came back with avengance. They found a loop hole and squirmed their way out of it, being that I was almost a year past the rust through warranty because my car's a 99.

I have a 99 Z28 with 112,000 on it and it's always in the sun and rain, nothing yet. I wash it atleast once a week and wax it once a month. I shouldn't have read this, It will probably happen now.

You are lucky. You got one of the last made with the epoxy coating applied under the sail panel. Somewhere in 1999, GM decided that this coating was no longer necessary. This is why all the Camaro/Firebird produced after this critical date in 1999 have this problem. I got mine done by the dealer for free under the rust warranty.

Ahhhh, the roof paint bubbles. I buy/sell Camaro's and Firebird's for a living. I've had literally hundreds of them. I have never seen a 98 do it and have have seen over 100 from 99 up do this. I just got a 39K mile 00 T/A in from Illinois yesterday and now as it sits outside in this Oklahoma 105 degree heat, it has glue oozing all over the place, probably 20 places.

Darker cars do it much worse. Dark colors attract heat and get hotter, hence making the glue come up and ooze out. I have a white 00 WS6 sitting out there in this heat and nothing coming up.

I've tried to contact various GM dealerships and some literally laughed at me asking to have it fixed.

Funny, my Head Mechanic @ the dealership asked me if I had resolved this issue? I said I wasn't going thru that hassle of BBB, and the long drawn-out process of reparations.

F it, if you have to fight GM to make good on a blemish that was an obvious problem during the 2000- 2002 period, then they don't want my future business.

Plain and simple, NO MORE GM product for me. A very expensive price to pay for dissin' this customer. Wonder how many people feel the same way?

Not me. GM paid for the repair on my '02 car without any problems.

I think a lot of dealers out there suck, and have no clue how to work the proper channels to get this covered under the 6 year/100k warranty. But at this point, all but the last of the '02s are past the 6 year point anyway.

Thankfully, my '98 was built early enough to not have this problem.

It isn't the dealership, it's the Regional Pontiac Manager and also Pontiac, but the Dealership could intervene if they chose to do so to support the buyer. With so many vehicles available to choose from, why should I allow this to frustrate me so much. It is as with any product/customer relationship; if you arent' happy with the dealership/manufacturer/or product, then don't go back. I can assure you they will lose more profit on my future purchases than if they made good on my claim.

Understandable.

But in my case, my Chevy dealer (and GM/Chevrolet) took very good care of me on this, which is another reason why I'll return to them to buy a new Camaro or C6.

At least somebody appreciates the customer/supplier relationship, but I still contend it shouldn't involve the dealership since it is a GM product and GM should stand behind their product

I cannot condemn my dealership, who has been and continues to be very supportive over the 25 year span. Very unfortunate set of circumstances that could have been avoided.

Congrats on your approval
