Both my sons 02 Z28(24k miles) and my 02 Z28(20K miles) are having these issues. Called GM today and was told that nothing was being done about it and that they would keep my information on record for any future possible re-calls. I'll take the TSB number to my local dealer to see what they say.

I've already said once or twice in this thread it costs anywhere from $750-$900. I had a few estimates done before I got the General to pay for it. Mine were so bad I was gonna do it outta the pocket.

GM fixed mine out of the three year warranty, fixed it under the factory 6 year corrosion warranty. Bitch a little more. Got mine fixed thru a woman at an 800# in the owners manual.

/me has this issue... Didn't realize it was nearly this prevalent. I'm going to take it into the dealer and attempt to start a conversation - if it spirals downhill I'll just resort to being evil to GM... It happened about 2 years ago on my '00 - I have about 55k on it now I think.

Obviously I have neither the 72/100000 or 36/36000 warranty remaining... May be an entertaining conversation.

When you go the dealership you want them to deem the top defective. NOT ask them to replace it or make them responsible for it. Just mention you have been talking to a GM rep andthey said to come by the dealership and see if the body shop/ or service advisor to see if they deem it defective.

And the best time to do this when its the worst. I took mine when the car was clean but after it had sat out in the sun for hours and they bubbles were leaking the sappy fluid out and it was running down the roof panel. Since it was clean they could see all the bubbles where the glue was used. The body shop manager deemed it defective immediatly. And told me to call GM and get the ball rolling. AND mine should be going into the shop to get replaced June 28.

I have two 2000 Camaros and both have this BS, and GM refused to fix it on the V6, havent determined if im gonna bother on the SS. The V6 has a **** load of them and one popped taking some clear off, the SS has a couple.

Well after I get my roof fixed I will let people know who inquire through PM the guy who I used to get mine done. He was very nice about the process and seemed to try and get it done for me!

Not letting all you scavengers call him till im completely done and have my new roof on my car .

lol. I 100% dont blame you. I think if the SS was worse off id have a good chance because its a nicer car than the V6, but right now 1 bubble isnt gonna cut it.

First bubble popped the clear coat today. I'm out of the warranty rust through warranty period, so I doubt they'll do jack **** about it. Especially since I'm the third owner and the previous owner had the rear bumper and quarter panel painted for a parking lot mishap. Luckily mine is just 3 or 4 bubbles, with only one that's popped the clear, some people have it a lot worse.

I'm also thinking that this a problem EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE 1998+ fbody will experience at some point in the future if it has not happened yet.

I got my car covered after going through the process I outlines.

1. Called GM and told them of the problem. GM rep said go to dealer and let them look at it
2. Went to dealer and go it deemed defective by body shop manager
3. Called same GM rep back and he contacted my local GM service rep.
4. Took about a week to get local service Rep to authorize the repairs
5. Took about 2 weeks for new roof to come in and car is going in the body shop at end of the month

When I took the car to dealer, I had the car for more than 5 years (original owner) and had 62,000 miles. Dealer was cool and said yeah that my roof was the worst they had seen and that it would only get worse as the car ages.

My '02 Z28 hardtop had that problem. It had bubbles on both sides. GM told me that they couldn't do anything for me. It had about 40k on the odometer at the time that I took it in. I got pretty upset about it and called GM cooperate. Nothing was ever fixed. I sold it about 4 mts. ago. I really hated to cause she was my baby. Hopefully GM will release the new camaro soon to dry my tears.

The thing is that if you repaint the panel, the pimples will come back in a short matter of time. You have to replace the panel to repair this problem correctly. I'd at least try and hit GM up for the repairs, unless you **** $100 bills every day and have nothing better to spend them on.
