Seems like this would make for a nice class action suit. Its a problem, been admitted by GM, and they refuse to fix it.

wow looking at the poll is kinda disturbing. Over 60% of us have/had bubbles on our roof. I dont understand how this isnt a recall yet.

Maybe GM figured they pissed all of us off by discontinuing our cars, so what's more salt in the wound? Its not like they were going to get repeat fbody customers.

ok I called my local dealership and mentioned the service bulletin. they asked me to bring it in to check it out and I did. I took it to the dealers body shop and spoke with the manager. I showed him the documents (found somewhere on this board) and, without hesitation, said he would fix it for me no charge since its covered by the 6yr "rust through" paint warranty (I only have 22,000 miles on mine). Parts are being orderd and they will call me to bring it in when parts are in. He said it would take between 2 to 3days to fix it but I doubt that.

Just a heads up to any of you that plan to take it in, I recommend you print the Service Bulletin and take it with you to the body shop.

One other thing, he did ask me if I have had it serviced there before which I have. I dont know if that matters or not but you might want to take it to your regular dealership.

Dropped my car off today for the repair. They said week to 2 weeks. Hopefully it wont be that long but it will be sooo nice to have to a normal roof!

s soon as you get it back run a hose over the roof to test for leaks. Mine had to go back and get redone. Water puddled on the floor.

here's one for you guys. i have a 99 t-top Z with 110k on it and it doesn't look like it's bubbling. the roof does have really bad orange peel in the paint though. do you think it was possibly repaired? i am the third owner of the car and it wasn't mentioned by the seller at all. maybe the origional owner did it?

Will do. After stopping by today and seeing the care they took in removing the windshield and weatherstripping I will definantly be checking things over before I leave there and when I get home with a hose . Although they said they have done a few of them and it wasnt a big deal. They would get it all back together nice for me.

and SLVR99Z.. you have realisticly no chance. Orange peel can be wetsanded and buffed out yourself. and with 100K+ No chance

no, i don't have the problem. no bubbling at all. i was just wondering if it could have been repaired by the previous owner. the orange peel seems really bad, like not factory done.

Mine has really bad orange peel and bubbles. Mine quite possibly could have been just repainted by a previous owner, instead of removed and replaced. Of course the factory paint on these cars is pretty shitty anyways.

leaving wax on overnight wont make it soak in or anything. Polish and wax. repeat.

I noticed a "S" in the middle of my roof (only certain angles), and the sides right above the windows are not very smooth but rather look like little waves. I have a 2000 Z28 that I bought in Dec 1999. You can't see it looking straight but only from the front. I snapped a photo below. I'm out of the 6 year period, plus I'm sure the dealer would likely say it's not bad enough. I dunno - maybe I'll go with T-tops if it gets worse in the future. I'm thinking of going to a reputable shop instead of a dealer if I'm paying for it.

Two '98s, no bubbling... but my Formula has new paint. The T/A still has the original paint, but it's fine.

Well got my car back. Paint looks great. Weaterstripping seals pretty well but they did bend one of the shiney black trim pieces by the window and where the roof meets the rear fenders. They will be ordering me a new one and it should be here soon.

OONBMCamaro, what dealer did you use? Any pics? What's the age of your car/mileage? So far I've received the 3/36K crap. Thanks!
