Default Door Alignment

I feel strongly this is baloney but this auto body repair dude says that the doors for Chevy vehicles (Like Camaros) tend to go out of alignment because some are real heavy. In addition, strong winds that force the door to swing out are likely cause for a door misalignment. Anybody ever heard about something like this?

Not sure why you think it's "baloney". The doors on these things are extremely heavy and over time yes, that weight will wear on the hinges. And yes, if a strong gust of wind catches that door and slams it wide open under force, it can cause misalignment. Pretty much common sense stuff.

Ditto...

Ever seen the doors of just about any 3rd Gen nowadays? Or how bout fox body mustangs? The door pins/hinges get worn over time. And obviously these doors are heavy as hell, which makes them prone to sagging/misalignment. Especially once they get old.

Just think of a girl with some big knocks, don't they start to sag after they get old?? They are heavy and will eventually begin to hang, gravity FTW!!

Yea I can understand a decade or more but a 2000 and up model? How many of you have door alignment problems? I guess I was skeptical because I have never seen a door go out of alignment from the wind blowing it open.

My former car, a 1997 dodge neon was a victim of the wind. I opened the door, and a huge gust of wind threw it all the way open, and actually went so far, the door damaged the quarter panel. I had to wrestle with it to close it.. lol

'01 T/A and my door has already began to sag and it is starting to get to me. It all depend how you treat the car, I bought it used so im sure they didnt think to much about it. I try to never leave the doors open, just open for as long as I need and close it back up because it is very heavy and not only that it is very very long so it is very hard on the hinges.

They make a special prybar the attatches to the latch and sits on the striker pin. By prying it up, you can get the door to hit the pin on the money. The only bad thing is. It will sag again after a while. The only REAL fix is to get new hinges!
