hood
ok the body shop is painting my hood, and they ran into a problem.
they stripped the gelcoat off and everything and have it primered and sealed. well they told me it has pinholes in the finish and its not sealing right due to it not sealing right.
what does that mean??

no they left the gelcoat
i went and looked at it. he said they are going to put some kind of putty over the holes to conceal them the best they can. you cant see them unless you are 5" from the hood.

fiberglass almost always has pinholes especially if its a cheap peice and needs to be blocked... the most you can do with them is fill it in... prime and block till there is no more... i had this problem too its not a big deal... dont worry bout it... but if they did stripp the gel coat which you said they didnt do that woiuld cause loads of problems...what color is the car?

well the color is in my sig.
the hood is conformed to all of the car's curves and all.
i dont remember what he said theyre gonna put on it but its gonna fill them in (the visible pinholes)
he used 2 sealers and 2 primer coats and they showed through.

we used to have a guy that put prime on like cement to fill in pinholes and 100 grit scratches... lazy ****... its much better to fill them and then prime... less chance of them sinking in over time then... fiberglass is a bitch... wish they made aftermarket aluminum hoods.... id pay the extra $$$

man who the hell did you take your hood to? they sound like idiots. first off i dont care who you get your hood from its going to have little pinholes. when you got the hood it should of had a black primer coat on it. they should of just sanded it down to remove waves in the primer, and take care of and small pin holes, and then any major pinholes filled with polyhester filler. now if they used a highbuild primer then you wouldnt worry about pinholes either. because the primer would of filled them and they could of been wet sanded it out.
