2002 ZL-1 recreation - paint is done
I went to see my car yesterday after 20 months in the paint shop. I just wanted to share the results, so far.....
The car is a 2002 SS that I bought new in 10/02. It has just over 9k miles and I haven't driven it in 3 years I'm hopeful about finishing the project this year...stay tuned.

Did you use '69 Hugger orange? It has more red in it than '99 Hugger Orange.

I appreciate all of the kind words and feedback. It's still a work in progress, but it will eventually be back on the road...on a very limited basis
Once the car comes home I need to finish the interior and mechanical aspects. The intent is to recreate a Phase II ZL-1...with a few extras.

Car looks amazing! I plan on doing one some day. My dream is to own a real one but $100,000+ is just way out of my budget. This way is the next best thing and you can drive it. All of the 2002 ZL1s also came with the hockey stripe, do you plan on adding it to the car? When i'm ready to do one it will be 1969 garnet red with the white manta and hockey stripes. I have a friend that owns a 2002 http://www.gmmginc.net/ Tom Henry camaro it's 1 of 1 painted 1969 (code 72) hugger orange.Thought I would be the first to clone a real one but you bet me to it, congrats. Post more pictures when you can.

is it just me or do you just have a hugger orange paint job and the manta stripe with the "in memory" lettering on the back?
I am not trying to sound like a jack *** but almost 2 years for what? a paint job?
I probably am missing something huge here. I usually do.
Anyways the car looks good.

ok the guys on the back of the car are two of the guys who used to sell and race the real 69 ZL1 cars and it is a tribute to them. The hockey stripe was just an option when you were ordering the car. You could get the stripe over the top, the hockey, or both. and you could get them on each phase. you could also choose if you wanted the interior done with the hounds tooth or with the a roll bar and so on.
r u going to get an LS6 for the phase II replica. you said you were going for accuracy?
