Default Anyone here want to paint my car?

It's a 96 SS in red, I want to paint it but really don't have what they ask 4-5 grand when you stop at a body shop to paint it. Anyone can help here in the north east? It's red and FLAWLESS, I just want to paint it blue. Let me know what you think if anyone's out there who can do a good job for a decent price. I'm from York, PA and will pay whatever it cost for materials, but please be decent on the price , I really don't have that much.

if they are charging you that much you should sell it plus the money of the paint job and get a nice ls1 camaro.; I paid 3 gran for my 97 TA, less money than your friends are asking you at the body shop

02GTP4NOW:
I don't mind to drive the car to MO and have you paint it. Any idea what price we're talking? I'm assuming you know all about a paint job . Let me and I very much appreciate your help.

As for going with an LS1 :
I don't like their front end, they look like Chrysler.
I have a 96 SS supercharged 383 with 471 RWHP, do you think I want an LS1 ?
Thanks for the advice though .

He's basically saying that for a flawless paint job that is a color change $5,000 is not a bad price and if you are looking to pay significantly less then you might be disappointed with the workmanship.

PM box is full.

Ok man here ya go, my explanation.

An SS deserves more time. Why, because its worth more, maybe not to you but down the road the next owner would appreciate the time and effort. I know it doesnt sound right but everyone spends a little extra time on more expensive cars, they just dont admit to it.

Flawless, you say you wouldnt expect perfection, well, I have heard this a million times. And when the job is done and its not perfect I get bitched at. (this is of course when i do a cheap job, which in reality is a show job just not wet sanded and buffed)

Color change, You have any idea how much work goes into a color change? removal of the doors, hatch, and hood is just the beginning.

I meant no disrespect but for what you want 4000-5000 sounds about right.

I got it and thanks for the explanation Pro-Mo, that sould have been ur first message ;-), because I really didn't know what you meant.
Now, for the price : I still think 4-5 grand is insane, how much materials will cost for something like that, I'm just curious. If materials cost $1000 (Which I really have no clue) then why da hell someone wants to make 4 grand on my ***!! because it's a tough job to do !! Well, I know, make a 1000, 2000 for the job but not more than that, that's my opinion.

Yes, I'm leaving the mirrors, roof bar, grill area and around the headlights black. I want the 93-97 Medium Quazar Blue, GM color code 80U if I'm not mistaking. Here's the 94 Camaro vin number that I want it's paint if that helps you out calling the dealer for the exact code: 2G1FP22P9R2172253
Also, I'm interested in Black, I don't know the color code but I like black as well. Blue is my favorite but if black is gonna save me a lot then I don't mind.
I really can not afford much, do I want a good job, of course but please don't tell me that for $4000 you'll get from me a better job than $1500, I'll buy the materials, you do the job, just don't rip me off.
They charge 4-5 grand BECAUSE they rent a place and they need to pay the damn rent at the end of the month, they have employees to pay salaries for, and so on and so on, I don't give a damn, I'm simply looking for someone who can do what THEY CAN, but charge me a fair price, not an insane price.
Above all, I'll provide as much beer as needed and if you need a blond or two to keep hosing after your sanding I guess I can do that as well, what's better than that ?> Come one now.

Well I just had my car painted, and materials were almost $800.
The guy charged me $1000 for labor, and he did a crappy job!
Now I'm stuck with tryin to find someone reputable to wet sand and
buff it. Hell I'm not even sure if wet sanding+buffing will cure it's dull
finish and orange peel, plus I kept it black! Looks like it's a trip
to small claims court for me!

I've heard black isn't hard as long as the car is straight, there was very little body work needed on my car. I think he just didn't know or didn't care what
he was doin. sorry for the .....I know this isn't about my car.

At 4000-5000 you are usually paying for prep work, not the materials. Especially if its going to be black. Which, by the way, is easy to shoot but the prep for black is the most dificult as you can see the smallest of defects.

blacks not hard to paint because its covers easy. the hard part is getting good prep work and a good buff job. black will show anything and everything.
