painting an engine bay?

Default painting an engine bay?

have any of you guys done it while the motor is out of the car. im thinking about doing just to clean it up some. am i in over head or is it possible without screwing it up. what process would you guys recommend?

Oh yea if the motor is out I would definitly do it!! I smoothed mine all out!!

what steps did you go through? im thinking a flat black would look nice under the hood. we'll see.

i did mine with it in the car. man it was time consuming taping everything off. but i went with the same color just in a gloss so if i missed anything i cant tell.

Did mine just like bodywork on the outside exept used good spray cans so touch up would be a breeze!!

welded all holes
cleaned good
filled
primed
sanded
sprayed


doesnt look to bad!!

you cut radiator support and didnt put anything back there? is that safe? any niticable excess flexing? what radiator?

Sure!! Its braced from the bottom!! This thing doesnt flex at all!! Especially with the cage in it! People do it all the time!!
