The advantage w/ a C5 is that it is designed to be a vert first so no added bracing is needed, the hydroformed structure is on of the stiffest on the road even w/o a top at all. The coupe is even stiffer as it has the b-pillar "roll bar". The Z06 has that rollbar and the rear crossbar of the vert (the part the trunk lid hinges to) which is what gives it the added stiffness over the standard coupe. So... in my case, cutting out the smc roof panel doesn't affect the car.

^ For the antenna hole and side reflectors we first bonded scrap SMC (from the roof) to the back sdie w/ 2-part SMC panel bond/filler. We then filled the hole with the panel bond, sanded, then skim coated with "Vette fill" SMC filler. Working with SMC panels you have to follow a specific process and use the right materials or the repair will not last, you will have expansion and the area will show or even fail.

Snapped some pics of the car in the garage tonight looking over the paint.... paint match is perfect, she's all one shade of yellow now, the right shade. Car needs to be buffed out, but that'll happen when I finally get it all back together. My bumpers are still at the paint shop to get buffed a little to fix some runs in the clear. I'm 100% happy with the shade I chose. Some will comment that it's not much different that before, but when seen side by side it's a good bit brighter without being pale.

Farted around a bit in the garage today (was off) and got a little done. Really need a 2nd set of hands to allign the panels, but I got the quarter panels on and adjusted, then went to work on the wheels. Two are done and the other two are leaking so I'll have to get the tires taken off, then split and re-seal the rim halves, not that big of a deal. I've had my centers in and out a few times with the tires on, but in the future I'll have the tires removed from the start just in case (if I ever have to take the centers out again.
The more she comes together the more exicted I get... I was really over the whole project for awhile, but now that I can just take my time (not going to make the waterside vette show next weekend (will go and hang out) and not going to Bowling Green in May this year) I can relax and go at a slow pace.
Got the car sideways in the garage to work on it. With the Panoz out you can see the true color as the red car was throwing off the side of the car.
Two wheels all back together and holding air
A couple more shots
