I had not seen a targa z06, but there was a z06 at the Corvette Museum that the owner purchased new and had converted to a convertible. Good luck with it.

Haha... we'll see. It's a spare P1SC gary has at the shop from when he upgraded to a D1 on his 402. The car started making an awful squeeling and we suspected the blower took a ****. Combine that with the fact that the P1 wasn't enough to feed the 402 anyway and you get a new D1. Turns out the LS2 takes some kid of spacer ting on the end of the cam between the cam gear and Gary didn't install that. The backside of the cam gear was hitting the cam retainer plate bolts causing the squeeling

So the short of it is the blower should be perfectly fine! That, and my crank pulley is allready pinned, I have a racing radiator and oil cooler, and 42 lbers all ready... so it'd be a stupid simple install

A company in Canada called Caravaggio will do the conversion or sell the kit w/ a pre-modded roof to a body shop. However it's expensive and well I'd rather do it myself w/ the help of a few friends.

Here's an example of their work:

awsome work. now what where saying in the first few post? Something about Gm already had the holes or mountng areas for this setup on the regular C5s and it was just a matter of cutting along the dotted line?

No... not a dotted line, but the windshield frame has the mounts for the oem targa latch points, and the underside has the clip holes for the oem trim panel that the vert/targa have. On the rear "roll hoop" aka b-pillar hoop it has all the threaded holes for the center rear latch mount/striker, and the areas on the corners for the locating hole mount brackets. Basically Once I customize the roof w/ the front lip of the roof section from a coupe it'll all be plug and play.

omfg i cringed when i saw the picture of you cutting the damn top LOL...looks like it's coming along great...a buddy showed me a company that converts it for you for like 12grand? Looks like you'll spend quite a bit less doing it yourself. Good luck!!!

Tonight's Update: Thanks for the help Mike and Gary

Removed the rear window molding for a proper repaint. Maybe it's because it has been in there since 2001, but it didn't come out nicely. It will not be reusable but no worries, I'll get a new one. I'd rather have the roof painted right.

The legendary Gary Ballard (GBVette) took a break from shuffle board and bingo to chop the rest of my roof off! I was going to measure it, but he just grabbed the jigsaw and did it while I was looking for a marker Waiting on my coupe exterior panel to finalize the roof body work.

Mike worked on filling in the holes in the hood. The frame seems to be oem and has the holes for a hood liner. Since one is not used and never will be we decided to counter sink the holes and fill them. Also removed the light and began filling in that area for a cleaner look.

Removed the headlamp doors and begain the sanding... still need more work on them, lots of factory orange peel in the clear.

That's all until tomorrow night.

Rock the **** on dude. I'd love to see a Real Targa Z-6. I see the Hatched around here all the time with the brake ducts and the wheels and the bumpers, but of course they are all fake. Nice to see a real Targa Z-06
