did you prime anything? if not, your exisiting black will do just fine. If you use a PPG black. You wont need a sealer period.

seal anything that is not in clear coat (primer, bondo, fiberglass, or plastic) also seal any spot that has been sanded through the clear

that question is hard to answer without knowing more details, if your just painting over good paint i wouldnt seal it, if you are trying to seal over un primed body work and paint over wet sealer still not a good idea because it will shrink up

the paint is all in good shape i have one spot about the size of a dollar bill on the front cap where the clear has peeled and the hood will have to be sanded and primed (rock chips) the rest of the car the paint and clear are fine (to paint over)

its hard to say. some people would and some people wouldnt i guess it really depends on the kinda painter you are. im about to start working on mine but i have quite a few primed areas so im going to seal the entire car and then paint it. i think you will be good with just re base coating and clearing it. maybe atleast seal where the clear was chipping and the hood.

Sealer is usually a good idea because you'll be combining chemical adhesion (sealer) and mechanical adhesion (sanded paint surface). Chemical adhesion is the best. It's your dollar, urethane sealer isn't cheap. The other posts are correct as well. Good luck, clean the car, clean again, mask carefully, clean again, tack up to your first coat of clear, because black isn't forgiving!

do yourself a favor and seal it. dont be lazy and cut corners..it is the right thing to do. Use surfacer wherever you need it seal it and paint..its not like you have to sand the sealer down anyways its easy. when you are scuffing your old paint up and you have cut throughs and what not its good to use a sealer plus it will make your new paint more durable.
