Side Molding Delete = Clear Coat Removed?

Side Molding Delete = Clear Coat Removed? So I removed my side moldings a few nights ago in a semi dark space. I got all of the glue off and anything visible at that time. In the dark it looked awesome. My passenger side now looks perfect but oh not the driver side.
Once you look at where the molding was in the light you can see that it also pulled the clear coat off with it or either the door was re-sprayed before? The Formula logo clear and the molding clear is gone just from the door strip to the piece in the rear quarter panel but not the fender molding? It's odd to me.
Either way I know many will say its hard to tell but even after several minutes of rubbing with various rubbing compounds, the lines will not go away and it is obvious that the color is a tad different. Any ideas? Thanks

You can wet sand it with 1500 and buff it with 3M perfect-it II and III and it will be less obvious. As said above, it is a result of the side of the car being repainted with the moldings in place.

That is so weird. Carfax did not show anything and I bought it from the only owner and she only mentioned the front bumper being repainted. But yes all of the clear came off not just parts of it.
So a claybar might smooth it out some? What does a paint shop charge to do just a door? I do not want to spend 1-2k for a complete paint job right now. My paint is pretty decent other than this. And I will not put the moldings back on! Thanks

I found the same thing on my Z. I also found evidence that they repainted the hood with the plastic hood vent covers still in place. You know, the ones that take 20 seconds to remove both. I wonder what kind of clown painted the car before I got it

Did the same with my car looks exactly the same as that, i was told the door was repainted and the guys that did it did not take the lettering/molding off. I belive it becase on the trim on the quarter panel and front panel dont have the look... So if you know how to fix it let me know 
wherever its peeling have feathered primed and rear based and cleared. your luckey it just did that and you didnt have a hack job done where they just scuffed the molding on the car and based and cleared over the molding then you would have these crazy clear lines where the molding use to be. and carfax doesnt show a lot. my car has been wacked before and hit pretty hard. also its been totally repainted and carfax didnt show one single repair.
The clay bar wont smooth anything out, but it may make the spot less obvious my removing firt in the crack. Sanding and buffing it will make it a little smoother. A decent detailer should be able to help you with this.

lol carfax. My car had the same thing, clean carfax. Notice after having the car for a while it had been repainted. Live and learn I guess. Need to look closer next time. I was 18 at the time so I blame it on my inexperience.

The car is very straight so I do not think anything serious happened, she told me of the front bumper. Either way I contacted a few local painters via email today, what do you guys think they would charge just to repaint a door? Thanks
