Default Lesonal

The shop I work for is going to be swithing to Lesonal real soon. Id like to hear from the guys hear that have experience with their product. From primer/sealer to basecoat/clearcoat. How well is the color match, does the clear have decent UV protection? Any advices or warnings would be greatly appreciated.

From what little my jobber just told me it sounds like a good product. It is made by Akzo Nobel (Sikkens) so it cant be that bad. Im just going to be really sad to see PPG go. But they are just crazy exspensive any more.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

To tell the truth. 90 percent of us have probably never heard of them.

Ive heard the same thing, even use the same paint chips. Kind of like Global uses the same chips as DBC in PPG.

I currently use 2 of their products. I use their gray urethane surfacer and their urethane surfacer/sealer in white, gray and black. The surfacer is good stuff. It has excellent fill qualities and NO shrinkage. The only bad part is that I think it sands a little hard. It does not clog the paper or anything, it just sands kinda hard. I use the surfacer/sealer for sealer only. I dont think that it has the fill qualities like the gray urethane surfacer does. I like the sealer because it flashes off pretty quick and lays down really smooth. I have yet to try their basecoat or clear, because I am content with what I have at the moment and dont feel like wasting a ton of money on a mixing bank that no matter when I change will still have quite a few tints left that are full or at least partiallyfull. If it was for this fact I would switch to it in a heartbeat. I would not be ashamed of this product by anyone saying that it is generic or cheap. Their prices are in line with DuPont or the PPG line, but I would take the Pepsi challenge with Lesonal against them anytime. I think that you will like it. As stated earlier it is basically the same as Sikkens just not as pricy. I think that this industry as a whole has gotten way too expensive, but the shop owners and techs arent the ones getting rich. Thats a whole other story that I wont bother anyone with.

also agree with vetman, no one wants to pay for good work anymore as it is, and with the way materials are goin up in price anymore, half the times its not even worth it
