Angry So far two body shops have failed to paint aftermarket CME valance...

I've taken my CME valance to two different reputable body shops in my area and both times the pin holes keep coming through the paint. I'm going to let them try to fix it one more time then I may just sell it if it keeps happening. I even warned them of the pin holes so they were prepared.

My car has been at both shops for almost 2 weeks total..

is it fiberglass or plastic like the original? either way it can be done. if its fiberglass they should prime it and seal it before paint.

tell them take any primer mix 1 part reducer/ 1 part hardner for clear. spray it 3 med heavy coats 15 min later put base on etc... if you got that black rubber looking cme from a guy on this site i ordered 2 and thats how they have to be done(put on car first) because it flex and paint will crack.

if this is a primered piece of plastic, all i would do is sand the primer, if it needs more primer i would do it, sand it again, prep it, seal the piece, base, in the ppg dbc system the clear activates the base coat, if i use dx57 then it is also activated, base coat and sealer is flexable, when flex agent is added to the clear it is flexable only for a short period of time the prodcut evaportaes, so no your post when saying it will crack the piece will not crack, when it is preped correctly material will last the lenght of the cars life

ppg also makes a flat clear when it is reduced with different mixing ratios it gives different degrees of gloss, there is a mid coat clear called dbc/dbu500, which is used for blending, custom paint, and it is no intended to be used on the exterior of the car by it self for it will turn white, so when you say the procedure above i have to say no its wrong, i dont know of a clear that is mixed 1;1 and spraying clear on heavy is a big no no, solvent poping will occur big time,
so its just to clear up what this guy said, and posting the correct info
like i said before i will be glad to do it
