Progress of the flames....finally :D
I bought my WS9 hood last September so I've been driving around with it unpainted for quite some time. Back in April I had found a painter to do the flames for the 1st week in June when I'd have enough money saved up. Well the painter backed out on me one week before it was to be done and left me to find a painter. I was pretty upset but thankfully I came upon a shop through the neighbors b/f. ( We just moved into this neighborhood back in April btw). The flames were to be laid out last week but they was a set back with that because of trying to match the flames to the existing one's on the fenders and the new flames hitting heat extractors. The graphic guy made a template of the hood and laid everything out in vinyl at home.
Rather then me drive all the way up there again and have them stay open past the hours I asked them to email me a pic of the flames which were finished late last night. So this is how they look....pretty much exactly like the original hood. I told them to go ahead so today it will be painted

Thanks all . I am glad to finally be getting it done. Should all be ready for pick up maybe Thursday or Friday.
Yeah Jason you were right. I just worry too much! BTW.....poor Tim's car was totalled Friday night at 28 & Willard. Thank goodness it wasnt his Camaro. Someone fell asleep and hit him at about 45-50 mph at the light which was red

He's ok except for some pulled neck muscles. He was on 28 @ Willard headed south. That place is a mess. They should've done a fly over instead of making a new intersection part
Here's his car

Wow, well Im glad he is ok! I drove thru there the other day and was like where the hell is the road! I hate when they move the intersections right before they start building the cloverleafs its horrible.

I got a call from the shop today that the guys were going to be working late and they'd painted the flames. They still had the outline and shadow to do but if I wanted to come up and see it I could so I did. It looks really nice...flames are a little different then the original hood with the purple into the orange but it looks good...different. They did a reall neat job of making it go around the scoops. Also going to cost me more .... $400 more then I was told because the orange is really expensive and so was the purple which requires a special base.
Anyway here's the shots I took

Thanks. I think they blended somewhat but not really sure what all went on. They took it out in the sun to see how the colors looked and they were all pretty happy with how closely it matched. I havent seen it in the sun yet...just it backed along the side. I was hoping it would be done for this weekend but it wont be finished till Monday

Did you already pay for the paint job & get a recipet prior to their little convient price increase?? If not then I can see them being able to raise it on ya, but if you already paid that should be their loss for not quoting it properly.
Look great either way.

No I havent paid them anything yet. The guy told me $1000 first but said he would double check with the graphic guy. I asked last week what the price was and they didnt have anything yet other then what I was told. I understand the paint being more expensive and I'll get the rest that they didnt use but he also said that the graphic guy was more. He said he had to make more trips to the shop then estimated. Well to me that's not my problem. If the graphic guy estimated he could get the work done in two trips and it turned out to be 3-4 that's his fault...I wouldnt think I should have to pay for that. Just like if I gave a price for let's say detailing a car and it took me 2 hours more then I said because I had trouble with some scratches or something like that...that's not the customer's fault it took me longer so I wouldnt charge. As it is it's taken 2 weeks to get the car done when I was told a week. I'm going to talk to the neighbor's b/f and get him to call about the price since he's good friends with the owner. The graphic guy didnt take longer because I asked them to do anything extra or go back and redo something. He had trouble getting everything to lay out and had to go back home and work on the project so hence another trip back to the shop
