The cam for sale is a Comp 227°/231° on a 113° lobe separation with 0.613"/0.617" lift. This cam has less than 2,000 miles and is in new condition. It will come shipped in an original Comp Cams box along with original paperwork. This sale is for just the camshaft.


I recently finished a cam swap on a friend's '98 Corvette, and I ended up with his previous camshaft in payment. He had installed this 227/231° cam just a couple months previously, and ended up with a healthy oil leak around the front cover. Since the front engine cover had to come off in order to fix the leak, he decided to go bigger with the cam (he wanted more lope). I ended up installing a TSP Magic Stick 3 cam:

The cam I am selling is just slightly bigger than my 224°/230° in my daily driver '99, and I can say it is a great size for performance and drive-ability. There is a slight lope at idle, but only noticeable to car enthusiasts. Sorry, but I don't have an idle clip with the cam that is being sold. Overlap at .050" lift is only 3°, which makes this cam easy to tune for drive-ability.

 

any dyno?

 

I don't have dyno numbers for this particular cam, but I can assure you power would be typical of other LS1s with a 226° to 230° duration cam. This one does have pretty aggressive lobes as seen by the .613"/.617" lift. It will work well with a set of Patriot Gold springs or equivalent.

What size pushrods for this cam?

 

This cam will work fine with stock length 7.400" pushrods. Of course that will be affected by your specific selection of head deck, gasket thickness, and rocker arms.
