FS: Ported LS-7X 6-Bolt Heads 72cc for large bore

I bought the bare heads from Worlds Castings for $1,424.98 and had Total Engine Airflow port, polish, and flow test them for $1,188.19. I have $2,613.17 in the bare ported heads.

The heads have been set up to run shaft rockers and I’m currently running Crower # 74110 stainless shaft rocker assembly. Cost for the set is $1,242.86 + Needle bearing tip option $160 for a total cost of $1,402.86.

The head are setup to run 5/16” stem 2.250” and 1.625” valves. The flow numbers are amazing.

The heads where bought to go on my Warhawk block from Worlds Castings but after running them dyno during the engine break in period, Jim at Speed Inc. noticed the fuel air mixture moving around. After long conversation with them they convinced me to pull the heads off and that is when we notices one of the heads had core shift during the casting process and with the porting process the wall thickness got down around 0.075” and cracked and then turned into small hole allowing exhaust gases to go into the intake side or vise versa. The engine builder checked out both heads and said one head is good and on the other head two of the cylinders had this issue and I would need to repair them or replace the one head. This these heads going on a 427 twin turbo motor I elected to replace the heads and after contacting Worlds Castings they did make things right with me and I ended up just getting a second set of heads and sending them back to Total Engine Airflow. The second set of heads came back with just as good of flow numbers.

I’m selling the set of the bare heads but one of the heads will need to be repaired or replaced.

Asking $1,000

HRD Racing Heads said they could repair the head for around $300
http://hrdracingheads.com/repairs.html

Total Engine Airflow will sell you a new stock head and port it for around $800-$900, so for around $1,900 you could save $700 on a set of heads and have two new heads or have the one head repaired and have $1,300 in them saving your self $1,300.

The heads have less than 5 miles on them and only spent about 40 min on the dyno during the break in period before they where taken off the motor.

You can see the hole that opened up after I used a screw driver to push on the wall.

Is the head weldable? I'm guessing since you elected to go to another set of heads I would say no?

Your pics are not working. Did you get a price on the fix for the head and if so, how much. Can I run the stock LS7 rockers on these?

I just sent a email with photos to Al at HRD Racing Heads to have him get me the repair cost. I'm also going to move the photos from one host website to another.
