Default WTB: 99 anniversary edition Trans am wheels

I am posting this for a friend. Wanting to buy a set of 99 anniversary edition Trans am wheels. He has a Weiand Sbc 177 low profile supercharger and Holley 750 supercharger carburetor willing to trade for them. Has about 30 miles on it, complete system with two nose pieces(long and short) and three pullies(5psi,7.5psi, and 12psi).Will sell supercharger and carburetor outright for $1800.

Why not get some wz6 rims and have them painted like the 30th rims?

pm replied. Posting for a friend. How would the process work painted WS6 rims as they are not powder coated?

then have them powdercoated.. get some 17x9 ws6 factory wheels, get the right paint code, and order powdercoating and have somebody do it.. 4 easy steps. youll have tops 1000 bucks in them and thats high quoting

They would have to be anodzied to look the same...I have never seen any painted or PCed that even look close to the originals. I have set out in the shop somebody royaly screwed up trying this.

From what I have read. A recent thread on ls1.com the rims are painted from Gm not anodized. It was a whole big long thread and someone got a letter from Gm or from someone who worked with the cars. I guess its impossible to match two rims to originals. All four have to be redone. Something about the batches of paint that were used for the rims. It was an interesting read. But get them painted if you want the best look.

^yeah, i read that too. just trying to find some for a friend. I knew it would be almost impossible. There too rare but you never know unless you look.

Also earlier cars where much lighter blue than later ones...so if you mix and match a set you have to deal with that too.

I offered someone $1500 for a set or a wrecked car last month and they wouldnt sell them...they wanted $2200 for them!
