I bought one off of e-bay out of a 'B' or 'G' body (don't remember what the GM designation is for the Caprice/roadmaster/impala/etc), just re-flashed it with my own file and use it as a back up.

Should be fine, but I would just contact a sponsor like wait4me and buy one from them, they can program it for your vin, and make sure there are no issues.

The ebay PCMs are fine. When you get it, just plug it in and see if it works. Pretty much a YES/NO situation. It is only a computer, after all.

I sell certified, remanufactured 411 PCMs for $100 + S/H. The cases are bead blasted clean, they have new internal seals, and they come flashed with the OEM programming and VIN of your choice.

PM me for details.

Sorry I don't keep 98s; they have greatly gone up in price in the last year.
