Default Not totally happy with HPE tune, is this stuff normal?

Just got it tuned last may, anyway, here are my concerns.

-MPG is horrible, I average about 15 mpg mostly highway
-RPM's stay up after rev, don't return to idle very quickly
-idle is between 1100- 1500, shouldn't it be closer to 800?
-cold start up is iffy, need to give it a little gas to keep it out of 300 RPM
-can't start it up and run AC within 2 minutes or it dies (tuner said it was because of the 98 PCM he could not adjust startup AC settings)

cam is a GM ASA Cam (226/236 .525/.525 @ 110 Lsa), standard boltons. she put down 373 tq. is this kind of stuff normal or should it take it back for a retune? thanks.

Not to sound like an *** but, have you given HPE a chance to address your concerns?

Not Normal . I would call HPE and ask them first.

I have a lot more cam than that and I don't have any of those problems. Done all my own tuning and the only issue I have is a little bit of "cruise control" when I let off the gas, but I can tune that out. Just don't have any time to play with the car right now.

Didn't have to drill my TB either.

Call HPE and discuss it with them.

If everything is in good shape on/in the engine... it is the tune. Sounds like they gave your car to the new guy to tune. All of those things you describe are fixable. Call them up and tell them you concerns. I have $10 that says they did a WOT tune on a dyno and not much else.

Report back what they say. Good luck.

yeah i'm not griping about HPE, I just wanted to check and see if these issues were normal before I troubled them with it. Spark plugs are recent, prev. owner took good care of it and I've only put about 2000 miles on it since May. They advertised that they did a WOT tune, but also tuned for street driveability, cam surge, various other things. I'll call em this week and see.

Tell them to fix it. I've seen their tunes. I've laughed.

None of that stuff is normal from a correct tune and provided your engine is healthy, that is the cause of your issues.

No offense, but you get what you pay for. I can't tune cars for 200 bucks, make them driveable, and make a customer happy. Hell I get 400 bucks for bolt on cars.

None taken. I had just bought the car and it needed a tune, didn't have much money, saw a special and jumped on it.
