Red face Options when DTC P0601 (and/or) Crank Position Sensor

Ok, it all starts with a problem that sounds exactly like a damaged CPS sensor but the scanner says its a fried pcm.
If it was a VATS failure, starter wouldn't work, so that's not the problem. (I even taped the key to test the security issue)

As I searched, I found symptoms for these two problems are almost the same:
  • Car may crank but injectors won't have a pulse
.
This is exactly my problem:

Posts resulting on a fried pcm:
Questions concerning fuel pump power
Recover PCM
Common 'car willl turn but not start' problem.

On these posts, a short solution is to replace the PCM. But what options do I have? I eventually will want to use EFI Live or HP Tuners and Moates Road Runner; Would a reprogramming from either the first two suites could work? Would I need additional software to put my VIN on the RoadRunner PCM? Will I just need HPT or FlashScan2 to attempt reprogramming?

Btw 1998 A4 Z28, so I will also have PCM compatibility issues I guess.
