I can't hear any knock.
Get some high octane gas and see if it goes away.

well i put a catch can setup on the car this weekend we'll see if that helps. I don't have enough time to do the pulley right now. Can I remove the asp pulley without removing the whole fan assembly? Is there anyway to tell if it is the pulley without actually removing it.

Have you tried the high octan gas. I am pretty sure one of the Sunoccos in Jersey has some 100 or 104

I'll try some high octane gas and see what happens. Could carbon buildup on the pistons cause knock? I use Chevron gas and I know that Techron, an additive in Chevron gas has been known to cause pinging. I am switching brands.

try getting a new computer. mine got fried last weekend adn we threw a new one in. got it flashed with the latest updates with revisions of false KR and took it out and tuned with ls1 edit. ive got no knock retard anywhere through out every gear, cruising to WOT. i pulled a ton of timing to combat the KR before so it slowed me down but now i feel that my car pulls like a ****. just my experience.

You saying there is an upgraded program for our PCM's? That would be something to check into. I've noticed if I go up a hill in 6th, it will cause KR so I now shift into 5th. Granted, I believe its false, but just in case...

yeah with my old pcm my car would show KR in gears 4,5 and 6. in 4th around 45 mph and moderate throttle position, 5th around 60 and up same throttle position, and 6th around 80 same throttle position. at first i had the new computer put in and we couldnt hook up to it through the port under the dash so we had to take it to fuel injection specialties and they had a portable computer scaning device (like the one you see at the dealerships) she uploaded a new stock 00 SS file with the revisions for false KR and then went out to my car and flashed my new computer with the file. you have to make sure the # 1 segment id's match though before you can load any thing in your pcm. we started from scratch tuning and no KR anywhere and the car feels better than ever. im stoked the dude fried my pcm.

Thanks for all the advice wrote up. I ended up finding my KR issue and just wanted to share. On my A4, there is a clip on the bottom drivers sde that holds two trans lines in place. the lines were out of the clip and although there is not much movement in them, they were causing me lots of KR. Now they are back in the clip, no KR. I would have never guessed!
