wanted to know if a code for knock sensor will throw the computer into low octane timing tables until fixed

will it have to be retuned?

this will explian why my car was leaner on a local dyno day vs when it was tuned.
was tuned 3 years ago and it was 11.5. on the dyno a few days ago it was close to 14.
i did replace the knock sensors weeks ago. does it go back to the original tune after replacing them. i just wanna know what could throw off the a/f that much.

 

Sorry but pulled timing should make it richer not leaner. If you didn't clear the code it will still be pulling out some timing.
If you are getting that lean it is probably real knock. Why did you replace the knock sensors?

 

it keep throwing 2 codes, both for knock sensors. after replacing no more codes.
in a 3 year period only thing i have changed is knock and o2 sensors. what could make it run leaner like that.

Have you checked your fuel pressure?
When is the last time the filter has been replaced?

Think basics.

 

Once the cause of the code is fixed (ie replaced knock sensors) reset your PCM to clear the fuel trims and get you back up to 100% on the High Octane Spark Table.

 

ill double check the fuel pressure but im sure its good.
as far as the fuel filter. i think the car has only had about 5000-10000 miles put on it since the build 3 years ago. dont know for sure on mileage, no speedo. so surely the fuel isnt dirty with that low of miles? i know it dont hurt to check it.

speaking of reseting the pcm. i have a scan gauge 2 and just reset the codes but cant remember if i reset the pcm since, i think i did. ill do it again just to make sure.

if not. im going turbo soon hopefully, so a retune is coming anyways.
