Default Installing new pcm..

I ordered a new pcm from westers garage. Some guys on the board told me to make sure I didnt short out the chip by not unplugging the battery and trying to keep static charges from it. What things should I unplug and what are some precautions I can take to ensure I dont fry the chip? Also any pics of the parts I need to unplug would be real helpful! Thanks.

Just remove the negative terminal from your battery when you install it.

Make sure that you get the PCM reflashed and a crank relearn done from the dealership if it is a Brand New PCM.

Good Luck

Remember, ONLY use a GM approved hammer to install it

J/K, it's a pretty simple installation. Why are you replacing the PCM might I ask?

My friend got a re programmed pcm from them and he hasno mods what so ever and once he put that thing in it felt like another truck! With the minimal mods I have I got it figuring tenth to 2 tenths...and you get free updates whenever you want so I figured what the hell.

Where exactly is the pcm under my hood? Me and my best friend are about to install my reprogrammed pcm and was also wondering if any tools are needed..certain sockets or anything like that?

7mm for the connectors on the top, and a 10mm for the plastic bracket.
