Default HP Tuners Unable to Locate VCM

Here is the message:

"Unable to locate VCM, verify cable is connected and key is in the run position."

I am trying to pull the tune file from 2003 Chevy Truck. Was able to connect before. Truck was tuned by a shop using EFI Live (MAF Tune).

Recently changed my laptop and downloaded Hp TunerS from web site Ver2.22 and downloaded the driver file from HP Tuners' CD which is almost 2 years old.

Engine is out of the truck. Connected battery and removed fuel pump fuse. Key is in run position and cable connect.

What to do?

Connect MPVI usb interface to the vehicles obd2 port but NOT your laptop does the green power light illuminate? If not its likely a blown obd2 port fuse.

Which driver did you install? HP Tuners CD driver or HP Tuners driver downloaded from their web site?

I used the driver from the CD which I think is older than the one on the site.

I will download driver from site and go back to the shop and try to test without laptop as suggested by foff667 then with new driver installed.

okay this may sound stupid, but sometimes simple things are the problem.

Did you connect VCM Scanner and forget to disconnect and close current log file??

I think it is. I couldn't charge my mobile last time from cig lighter. Had to use the other aux power outlet for charging!

I will check next time I go to the shop.
