Need help with a pcm swap 98 to 99+
My pcm is taking a dump after few electrical problems i have been having. So this would be a great time to up grade to a newer style pcm. Now i have search on here for little bit but i am on fence to do the swap. If i repin the harness witch i would do. Well i lose my fuel gauge? I want to keep my 98 sending unit. If i repin the pcm, well the bcm lose tcs and vats? Then if i have to repin the harness going to the gauges, is there any other way keep my 98 cluster? I know theres alot of people out there have done this swap, so let me know what you did and what not to do.
Thanks Rob

check that out. the fuel guage has to be edited in the tune. my opinion tuen the vats off anyway. bcm good question....all the swaps i have done were for street rods so they didnt use a bcm to begin with. do you care that much for the traction control?

I just did this swap today using this link http://www.chipsbyal.com/convert98/
I was wondering what this means "31. Red C1-36 DK BLU TO Red C2-38……………TEST FIRST! 99-02 PCM’S" what does it mean test first.
And what is the PNP switch signal because i didn't have a wire in that which is red 32.

You need to ease up on stuff that you know NOTHING ABOUT.
I would have sent you a PM but it looks like the admins have decided that you are too shady to get them.

If you have HP tuners I have a HPT file that will work for you. It will take you 4 credits to use. It has the correct fuel segment already in it. Le me know and i can email oir post it up for you.

Other than repining the harness, is there anything else to repin? What about the gauge cluster? I would like to do this swap myself, but I am a little on the fence about it too. My tuner says he can take care of the fuel issue with the gauge not working. And is the link posted above a pretty reliable link as far as the swap being done correctly when followed correctly?

If the car is a 1998 and you are moving to a 2002 pcm (0411 works the best) all you have to do is repin the red and blue connectors at the pcm (and extend a few wires to make them longer) You will need a 0411 pcm with the fuel segment swapped into it, and the tables adjusted. That is it. If you need a PCM with the file already in it I can direct you to a reliable source. I think they are a site sponsor as well but I'm not 100% sure so I cant post their name.
Its that easy. Definately worth it in my opinion. Car responds much better.
I just finished this on my personal 98 car and it works 100% perfect. So any help ya need just look me up.
